An autumn day in the historic center of Langhirano with flavors of the Apennines and associative life
The Autumn and Associations Festival is the event that every October brings the flavor of the Apennines' richest season to the historic center of Langhirano, in the heart of the province of Parma and the Emilia-Romagna region. Organized by Pro Loco Langhirano, the event closes the town's streets to traffic and returns them to pedestrians for a day entirely dedicated to local products, conviviality, and associative life.
For the occasion, the streets and squares of the center are filled with stalls of Apennine products: in Langhirano, the capital of Prosciutto di Parma, autumn is the season for chestnuts, mushrooms, honey, and traditional sweets. Among the most anticipated aromas are those of roasted chestnuts and chestnut cakes, accompanied by products from local producers. A special place is reserved for the Torta delle Paste Rosse, a signature Langhirano cake that the Pro Loco promotes as a symbol of the territory.
The second heart of the festival is the world of volunteering. Associations from Langhirano and the Val Parma present themselves to the community with their own stands along the pedestrian route, sharing their activities, projects, and services for the area. It's an opportunity to get to know the many social, cultural, and sports organizations that animate the Municipality throughout the year, in an atmosphere of exchange and participation.
The Autumn Festival is also designed for the little ones. Among the recurring proposals from past editions are workshops, entertainment, and playful activities distributed among the stalls in the center, as well as moments dedicated to discovering traditional products. The pedestrian nature of the event makes the day particularly suitable for a family stroll, with tastings, shopping, and the atmosphere of the village decorated for the occasion.
In recent years, the Langhirano event has become part of the project "Accessible, Sustainable and Inclusive Tourist Network in Emilia-Romagna", promoted within the initiatives of UNLI, which connects several Pro Loco organizations between the provinces of Parma and Piacenza. A path that enhances the identity of the Apennine territories and promotes their enjoyment by everyone.
The festival takes place in the historic center of Langhirano, with its epicenter in the main squares and streets of the town, on a Sunday in October. Admission is free, and the entire area is pedestrianized for the duration of the event.
The Autumn and Associations Festival 2026 returns on Sunday, October 11th, to the historic center of Langhirano. This year again, the day will be dedicated to stalls of Apennine products, chestnuts, and autumn flavors, with a focus on the Torta delle Paste Rosse and space for local associations. The full program, including times and activities for families and children, will be announced by Pro Loco Langhirano closer to the event.
Langhirano is about 25 km south of Parma. By car, it can be reached from the SP665R "Massese" road, heading up the Val Parma; from the A1 motorway, take the Parma exit. By train, the reference station is Parma, connected to Langhirano by intercity bus lines.
Admission to the event is free. The historic center is closed to traffic and made pedestrian for the entire day.
