The asparagus takes center stage for two weekends of taste in Cusano
When spring is in full swing, it's time for the Asparagus Festival in Cusano di Zoppola. For two weekends in May, the hamlet in the Pordenone province pays homage to the symbol of the season's vegetable, the absolute star of a rich and fragrant table that draws gourmets from all over the Friulian plain.
The menu is a small culinary treatise dedicated to asparagus: escalopes with asparagus, omelets with asparagus, gratinated asparagus, and the popular local frico with speck and asparagus, among the most loved dishes. Alongside these, traditional dishes and desserts are served in food stalls and a wine bar designed to best accompany the evenings.
The festival is also about celebration and activity. Dancing evenings with orchestras and live concerts alternate with weekend aperitifs with DJ sets, while sports find their place with the Marcia delle Rose, a non-competitive run on dirt paths of 6, 12, and 21 kilometers. There is also a spiritual moment, with Holy Mass in honor of Saint Rita of Cascia and a procession.
Organized by the Gruppo Amici Sportivi Cusano (Cusano Sports Friends Group), the festival is the result of the work of an entire community that, edition after edition, brings tradition and hospitality to the table. With the support of the Municipality of Zoppola, the festival promotes a local product and keeps alive the identity of a small hamlet that, for a few days, becomes a gastronomic reference point for the province of Pordenone.
The 2026 edition is spread over two weekends, from May 15 to 24. The food stalls offer a rich menu based on asparagus, while the evenings are enlivened by live concerts, orchestras for dancing, and aperitifs with DJ sets. Among the events are a dance school performance, Holy Mass in honor of Saint Rita of Cascia with a procession, and the XVI Marcia delle Rose, a non-competitive run on dirt paths.
