Barbecued beef in the mountains of Frosolone
Among the many festivals that liven up August in Frosolone (province of Isernia, Molise), the Argentine Cow Festival is dedicated to beef cooked according to Argentine asado tradition. The event takes place at Colle dell'Orso, the panoramic plateau at the foot of the Frosolone mountains, in a cool and evocative mountain setting even in the heart of summer.
The star is the beef, prepared on large grills by expert chefs who manage cooking and timing according to the Argentine style. The festival thus offers a generous and convivial dish, served outdoors and accompanied by local side dishes and wines.
The Argentine Cow Festival is part of Frosolone's very rich summer calendar, which in August alternates craft events (the Forging Festival, the Knife Market Exhibition) and numerous gastronomic festivals. An entire month during which the Isernia village comes alive with festivals, traditions, and good food.
The 2026 Argentine Cow Festival takes place at Colle dell'Orso, the plateau above Frosolone (IS), during the usual early August window. This year again, beef will be cooked on large grills by expert chefs according to Argentine tradition, in a mountain setting and as part of the village's busy summer festival calendar.
Exact date and times for 2026 will be announced by the Pro Loco of Frosolone in the weeks prior.
Colle dell'Orso is located on the plateau above Frosolone (IS), reachable by car from the town center. The reference train station is Isernia. A car is recommended to reach the festival area.
The festival is traditionally held in the first half of August (around August 11th).
Free access to the area; paid consumption at the stands.
