Four days of music, faith, and local festivities in the heart of the Arenella district
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
For four evenings, the Arenella Fest transforms the square in front of the Santa Maria del Soccorso all'Arenella church, just steps from Piazza Muzii, into an open-air stage. Located in the City of Naples, in the Campania region, the district sits on the hill connecting Vomero to Arenellaโa densely populated urban fabric filled with historic shops, local markets, and a strong sense of community that has never faded. The event was born from a simple yet effective idea: to give the square back to the residents and turn it, for a few days, into the center of a celebration that blends live music, popular devotion, and local commerce.
The musical program is the driving force of the event. The Arenella Fest stage stays active from 7:00 PM until midnight, with a lineup designed to satisfy diverse tastes and bring different generations together in the same square. The inaugural 2025 edition featured four distinct evenings:
The evenings were hosted by presenter Eduardo Castronuovo, following a traditional Neapolitan neighborhood festival format that alternates music, presentations, and moments of greeting for local community groups.
The final Sunday is the devotional heart of the festival. After mass, the solemn procession of the Madonna del Soccorso departs from the Archconfraternity, with the 18th-century wooden statue carried through the streets of the district. It is an ancient, deeply felt ritual: residents are invited to decorate their balconies and windows to welcome the passing cortege, a custom that has accompanied patronal feasts in Naples for centuries. The evening concludes with a fireworks display in the square.
The Arenella Fest is promoted by the Parrocchia Santa Maria del Soccorso all'Arenella together with the Arciconfraternita Santa Maria del Soccorso, with the support of the Municipality 5 Arenella-Vomero and the artistic collaboration of the N'Arte association. Local merchants also play an important role, contributing to the funding and animation of the festival: the event is explicitly designed as an opportunity to boost local business as well as a moment for community gathering.
Visitors to the Arenella Fest won't find a massive commercial festival, but something rarer: a neighborhood square coming back to life. Families with children, groups of teenagers, elderly residents sitting on chairs brought from home, food stalls, and the scent of Neapolitan fried snacks. Admission is free, making the event perfect for those who want to experience an authentic local festival without the tourist filters.
Arenella is not on the typical Naples postcards, which is exactly why it deserves a visit. The name comes from the sand (the arenella) that once characterized these hilly lands; the Santa Maria del Soccorso church, founded in the early 17th century and rebuilt several times, serves as its historical and spiritual landmark. Surrounding it is a residential district that is both working-class and middle-class, served by the funicular and the metro, just minutes from Vomero and Castel Sant'Elmo. An evening at the Arenella Fest is also the perfect opportunity to discover this hilly side of Naples, less traveled but incredibly vibrant.
At the moment, no official dates have been published for the 2026 edition of the Arenella Fest in Naples. The event is linked to the devotional calendar of the Parrocchia Santa Maria del Soccorso all'Arenella and took place in 2025 at the end of September, coinciding with the feast and procession of the Madonna del Soccorso.
For consistency, it is reasonable to expect a new edition during the same period, but until an official announcement is made, we are not reporting dates or artist names. We recommend following the channels of the parish, the Arciconfraternita, and the Municipality 5 Arenella-Vomero for updates.
If confirmed, the festival is expected to maintain its proven format: four free evenings in Piazza Arenella, with concerts from 7:00 PM to midnight, a musical lineup alternating Neapolitan songs, gospel, and contemporary sounds, and the final day dedicated to mass, the procession with the 18th-century wooden statue of the Madonna, and fireworks.
Piazza Arenella, on the churchyard of Santa Maria del Soccorso all'Arenella (near Piazza Muzii), Arenella district, 80128 Naples.
Admission is free. In the 2025 edition, the square was active from 7:00 PM to midnight, with main concerts starting between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
Updates on dates and programs are released by the parish and the Arciconfraternita Santa Maria del Soccorso, as well as on the event's social media channels.
