The food and wine festival of Salice Salentino in the historic center of San Donaci
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Antichi Sapori Fest is the premier food and wine event in San Donaci, a small town in the province of Brindisi in the heart of Salento, the land of Salice Salentino DOP. For one summer evening, the town's historic center becomes a vast culinary trail: the areas in front of the Mother Church and the Town Hall, along with Largo Zara and the village streets, host tasting stalls, wineries, chefs, and folk music.
The heart of the festival is local wine. In the so-called Wine Plaza, wineries from San Donaci and Salento offer their Salice Salentino, Negroamaro, and Primitivo, with guided tastings by AIS Lecce sommeliers and the support of the Consortium for the Protection of Salice Salentino DOP. It is a unique opportunity to discover one of Puglia's most iconic denominations directly in the town that gives it its name.
Alongside the wine glasses flows a true spread-out menu through the streets of the center, featuring dishes from Salento's peasant memory: from orecchiette to panzerotti, from grilled meat to puccia, and desserts like the bocconotto. There is no shortage of the territory's most ancient specialties, such as pecura alla pignata, pezzetti te cavallu, carne rrustuta, and bread baked in a wood-fired oven, a testament to a gastronomic culture passed down from generation to generation.
The Antichi Sapori Fest is not just about food and wine: the evening is enlivened by Salento folk music, pizzica, and concerts featuring bands and artists from the Apulian scene, for a party that continues until late at night. Talks, meetings, and in-depth sessions enrich the program, making the event an occasion to reflect on the identity of the territory.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco of San Donaci together with the Municipality of San Donaci, with the patronage of the Apulia Region. Born as the Sagra degli Antichi Sapori, the festival has become one of the most anticipated summer events in the Brindisi area of Salento, capable of attracting visitors from across the province and showcasing the town's producers, restaurateurs, and associations.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Antichi Sapori Fest have not yet been announced. The event is usually held in August in the historic center of San Donaci, featuring the food and wine trail among the Salice Salentino wineries, traditional Salento cuisine, and folk music. As soon as the Pro Loco of San Donaci and the Municipality publish the official date and line-up, this page will be updated with all the details.
