Angels Fair and Chestnut Festival

The fair that announces autumn in Val Sturla

In Mezzanego, a Municipality in the Metropolitan City of Genoa overlooking the Sturla and Aveto valleys, the Angels Fair has been the great autumn festival for generations. It takes place on a Sunday in October and combines the tradition of a fair with an exceptional star: the chestnut, the queen of the Ligurian Apennine woods.

Flavours of the valley and great chestnut roast

The heart of the day is gastronomic. From noon, the stands offer traditional dishes: testaieu (the typical small focaccias cooked between terracotta molds), polenta with goat sauce, porchetta and other valley specialities. In the afternoon, the most anticipated moment arrives, the great chestnut roast with the distribution of roasted chestnuts for everyone.

Exhibitors, children and dancing

Along the village streets, exhibitors display typical products, crafts and gastronomic demonstrations, while the Oratory often hosts a photographic exhibition. For the little ones, there are games and activities, sometimes organised by the environmental education centre of the Aveto Regional Natural Park, and in the late afternoon, the festival continues with an orchestra and dancing. Recognised among the Authentic Ligurian Events, the Angels Fair is the perfect opportunity to discover the Chiavari hinterland in its most colourful season.
