About Festival of the Holy Sepulchre
A Centuries-Old Tradition in the Padua Region
The Ancient Festival of the Holy Sepulchre, also known as the Villanova Fair, is one of the most deeply rooted events in Villanova di Camposampiero, a municipality in the province of Padua. With centuries of history and over three hundred editions, it is considered one of the oldest festivals in Italy. The organization is handled by the Pro Loco Villanova di Camposampiero APS, along with local associations.
Five Days of Celebration and Tradition
In September, the heart of the town beats to the rhythm of the festival: the food stand, managed by local associations, complements the market fair, live music, dancing evenings, and numerous activities for all ages. The festival combines devotion, conviviality, and entertainment, keeping alive a bond with the community that has been passed down through generations.
A Recognized Quality Event
The festival has received the Quality Event recognition from UNPLI, the National Union of Pro Loco of Italy, which selects the most deserving events nationwide. This award recognizes the work of volunteers and the Pro Loco's ability to preserve and renew such an ancient tradition.
Festival of the Holy Sepulchre — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the 346th, of the Ancient Festival of the Holy Sepulchre is expected in September in the center of Villanova di Camposampiero. The Pro Loco Villanova di Camposampiero APS, in collaboration with AVIS, GPDS, E Tradission, the Parish, and its youth group, will offer the established format: five days of food stands, market fair, live music, and activities for all ages. The exact dates and detailed program will be published by the Pro Loco on their official channels.
