The historic livestock fair of Trebaseleghe, between late August and early September in Parco Draganziolo
The Antica Fiera dei Mussi is the historic fair of Trebaseleghe, a municipality in the province of Padua bordering Treviso. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages: tradition traces it back to the 14th century, but modern editions have been numbered since 1185, making it one of the longest-running events in the region. It takes place between the end of August and September 8th, coinciding with the feast of the Nativity of Mary, from which the historical name Fiera di Santa Maria derives.
The name derives from mussi, donkeys in the Venetian dialect: the fair was indeed born as a large livestock market. This spirit survives today, alongside demonstrations of threshing, vintage agricultural machinery, exhibitions of ancient crafts, and the Museum of peasant civilization, which tell the story of rural Veneto.
The fair takes place in Parco Draganziolo, along the river of the same name, and for over a week it offers food stalls open in the evening, street food, and a large entertainment area. In recent years, the stage has hosted big names in Italian music, such as Paolo Belli, attracting a large audience from all over the region.
Behind the Antica Fiera dei Mussi is the work of many volunteers and the municipal administration of Trebaseleghe. More than an event, it is a snapshot of authentic Veneto: an interweaving of peasant tradition, popular faith, commerce, and celebration that has been passed down for centuries, in the province of Padua.
The 842nd edition of the Antica Fiera dei Mussi will take place in Trebaseleghe (PD) from August 28 to September 8, 2026, in Parco Draganziolo. The fair, one of the oldest in the Veneto, reaffirms its blend of peasant tradition and livestock market with popular celebration.
Throughout the days, there will be demonstrations of ancient crafts and vintage agricultural machinery, the Museum of peasant civilization, a market and stalls, food stalls open in the evening with street food, and an entertainment area with evening concerts. The detailed program is published on the official website fieradeimussi.it.
