The neighborhood festival of the San Bartolomeo district in the City of Popes
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Anagni in Festa is the neighborhood festival that the San Bartolomeo district dedicates to its patron saint every summer in Anagni, the famous City of Popes perched on the hills of Ciociaria, in the province of Frosinone. Born recently through the initiative of the San Bartolomeo Neighborhood Committee, the event has already found its audience: a simple and heartfelt gathering, built by residents for residents, which transforms the streets and spaces of the district into a large community courtyard for a few nights in July.
The program weaves together popular tradition, games, and conviviality. It starts with the little ones, featuring a snack offered by the Committee and children's games, continuing into the evening with games for adults, briscola tournaments, and the inevitable village challenges. The nights are marked by live music, with dance parties and shows that fill the neighborhood square, while the conclusion is entrusted to the traditional fireworks display that lights up the sky over Anagni.
The beating heart of the festival is the Committee's food stall, where you can taste the specialties of Ciociarian popular cuisine: grilled skewers, porchetta and prosciutto sandwiches, French fries, and other simple, genuine offerings. A beverage stand accompanies all the evenings with beer, soft drinks, and water. Proceeds support neighborhood activities and future editions, in the true spirit of self-financing and volunteering.
The festival is part of the rich summer calendar of Anagni, one of the most important historic villages in southern Lazio. Home to four popes and the scene of the famous Slap of Anagni, the city houses the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria with its frescoed crypt, the Palace of Boniface VIII, and one of the best-preserved medieval centers in the region. Experiencing Anagni in Festa also means rediscovering, on summer evenings, the authentic and popular soul of this territory, far from tourist circuits and close to the daily life of its people.
After the success of the first editions, the San Bartolomeo Neighborhood Committee is expected to host the neighborhood festival again in 2026 in Anagni, Lazio. Dates and program have not yet been officially published: as soon as they are available, they will be updated with details on evenings, the food stall, and initiatives.
Anagni is located in the province of Frosinone, in Lazio, along the A1 Rome-Naples motorway (Anagni-Fiuggi exit), about 65 km from Rome. By train, the Anagni-Fiuggi station is served by the Rome-Cassino line; from the station, the upper town can be reached by local bus or car.
