About Anacapri Masterclass

The Anacapri Masterclass, the heart of the Concertato Fest, is a summer academy for advanced musical training that transforms the island of Capri into an international laboratory every July. Established in 2017 by the Associazione Concertato in partnership with the Municipality of Anacapri, it brings together talented young instrumentalists and world-renowned teachers for violin, viola, cello, piano, clarinet, and chamber music. It is a week-long full immersion featuring individual lessons, seminars, and evening concerts open to the public, held between Villa San Michele and the town's halls, with the Gulf of Naples as a backdrop.

The Anacapri Masterclass, the heart of the Concertato Fest

Every summer, the Anacapri Masterclass brings high-level international musical training to the island of Capri, in the town of Anacapri, in the province of Naples, in the heart of the Campania region. Promoted by the Associazione Concertato in collaboration with the Municipality of Anacapri, the event is now a staple of the Capri July calendar: for about ten days, young instrumentalists from all over the world work with internationally acclaimed teachers in a setting of rare scenic beauty, among the gardens of Villa San Michele and the historic halls of the town.

A tradition born in 2017

The first edition was held in 2017, with a top-tier faculty that included, among others, cellist David Geringas, pianists Anna Malikova and Dina Yoffe, and violinists Michael Vaiman and Dmitri Berlinsky, under the artistic direction of pianist Veronika Koprivica, who still leads the project today. Since then, the masterclass has grown year after year, reaching its ninth edition and consolidating its reputation as one of the most refined summer academies in Southern Italy.

Disciplines and faculty

Advanced training covers string and wind instruments for both chamber and solo repertoires:

  • Violin and viola
  • Cello
  • Piano
  • Clarinet and other woodwinds
  • Chamber music, the common thread throughout the week

Students work side-by-side with concert performers and teachers active in major conservatories and on great international stages, in a direct relationship that is the true added value of the formula.

How the week unfolds

The masterclass is not just a series of lessons: it is a full-immersion experience. The program alternates individual lessons, thematic seminars, workshops also dedicated to improvisation and music career management, and wellness moments such as morning walks and yoga sessions, designed to balance intensive study. Each day concludes with live music.

Evening concerts

The great gift that the Anacapri Masterclass gives to the island is the evening concerts open to the public, featuring teachers, students, and chamber groups. The performances are held in iconic locations of the town, such as the famous Villa San Michele by Axel Munthe, overlooking the Gulf of Naples, and the halls provided by the Municipality. For residents and visitors, it is an opportunity to listen to great classical music in an intimate and evocative setting, often for free or at a low cost.

Anacapri, a unique setting

It is hard to imagine a more inspiring scenario for studying music: the Mediterranean light, the flower-filled gardens, the silence of the alleys of Anacapri, and the sea view provide a counterpoint to the notes coming from the study rooms. The event thus combines didactic excellence with the cultural and tourist promotion of the island, confirming Anacapri as a small summer capital of classical music in Campania.

Anacapri Masterclass — edition 2026

From July 12 to 22, 2026, Anacapri hosts the ninth edition of the Anacapri Masterclass, ten days of advanced musical training promoted by the Associazione Concertato with the Municipality of Anacapri. Violin, viola, cello, piano, clarinet, and chamber music, an international faculty, individual lessons, seminars, workshops, and evening concerts open to the public between Villa San Michele and the town's halls.

The ninth edition (2026)

The Anacapri Masterclass 2026 takes place from July 12 to 22 on the island of Capri, confirming the full-immersion formula of lessons, seminars, workshops, and concerts. The faculty brings together internationally acclaimed artists under the artistic direction of Veronika Koprivica.
