The first festival for Self-Help groups in the Susa Valley, Sangone Valley, and the Turin metropolitan area
Amati Fest is the first festival for Self-Help (AMA) groups in the Susa Valley, Sangone Valley, and the Turin metropolitan area. The event takes place at Parco Alveare Verde, a green space in the heart of Avigliana, a medieval town in the Province of Turin overlooking its lakes in western Piedmont. The event is promoted by the Ama Val di Susa and Val Sangone Group with the patronage of the Municipality of Avigliana.
Self-help groups are free, informal spaces where people facing similar difficulties—such as illness, bereavement, addiction, or the burden of caring for a family member—meet to share experiences and support one another. Within the ASL To3 territory, these groups are active in the Community Houses and represent a precious, yet often overlooked, resource for those seeking support that is not only clinical but also human and relational.
Amati Fest was created to introduce this network to a wider audience. Throughout the afternoon, various groups share their experiences through direct testimonies, while information stands managed by facilitators provide materials, leaflets, contacts, and guidance on how to join the groups. The speaker corner is an open forum designed to explain simply and directly what AMA groups are, who they are for, and the value they can offer to individuals and the entire community.
Participation is open and free of charge. The festival concludes with a small, convivial refreshment, offering an opportunity to continue the conversation in an informal atmosphere. Amati Fest is aimed at anyone curious about the theme of mutual care, as well as those going through a difficult time who are looking for an initial point of contact with the support networks of the Susa and Sangone Valleys.
The inaugural edition of Amati Fest brought together the numerous Self-Help groups active in the Community Houses of the ASL To3 at the Parco Alveare Verde in Avigliana. The afternoon was an opportunity to learn about the value of mutual care, listen to the experiences of those facing illness, bereavement, disability, or addiction, and discover how to access local support networks. The festival ended with a small refreshment.
Throughout the afternoon, information stands managed by AMA groups are active, offering materials, leaflets, contacts, and guidance on how to join, alongside the speaker corner, a space for dialogue curated by facilitators featuring experiential testimonies.
