The Brazilian solidarity festival in Piossasco featuring music, cuisine, and global commitment
Every year in mid-June, the marquee in Piazza Primo Levi in Piossasco, in the province of Turin, transforms into a corner of Brazil. AbitiAmo la Terra – Brazilian Solidarity Festival is much more than just a gastronomic and musical event: it is the flagship appointment of the Amici di Joaquim Gomes ODV ETS Association, which for over twenty years has linked Piedmont to the most impoverished communities in northeastern Brazil and Kenya. In fact, all proceeds from the festival are donated to training, food support, and community development projects in those regions.
The program spans nearly a week, intertwining social moments with civic reflection. Under the large tent—which ensures the festival goes ahead even in case of rain—there is a succession of live concerts, Brazilian funk DJ sets, aperitifs to the rhythm of forró, conferences on social justice and environmental protection, direct testimonies from volunteers, and workshops dedicated to children.
AbitiAmo la Terra is designed as an environmentally conscious event: biodegradable tableware, reusable cups, and management that reflects the sustainability values promoted by the association. Everything is driven by a volunteer machine made up of about fifty members and dozens of volunteers, who welcome over 3,000 visitors every year.
Participating in the festival means savoring Brazilian cuisine, letting yourself be carried away by the music, and at the same time, contributing concretely to a charitable cause. It is an experience that tells the story of how a small community in the province of Turin can build bridges with the other side of the world, amidst civic engagement and contagious joy.
For its 25th anniversary, the Brazilian Solidarity Festival returns to Piossasco with a rich and structured program, dedicated to music, cuisine, and civic engagement. Six days of events under the marquee in Piazza Primo Levi, featuring concerts, international conferences, and social moments, with all proceeds supporting communities in northeastern Brazil and Kenya.
