The Alcamo Wine Fest is an oenological event that shines a spotlight on the wines of Alcamo and Western Sicily, located in the province of Trapani. Promoted by Gambero Rosso in collaboration with the Municipality of Alcamo, the Regional Wine Cellar of Western Sicily, and the Consortium for the Protection of Alcamo DOC Wines, the festival transforms the historic city center into a journey of tastings, masterclasses, and meetings tailored for both enthusiasts and industry professionals.

The Venues: Jesuit College and Castle of the Counts of Modica

The festival unfolds across two iconic city landmarks. The auditorium of the Jesuit College hosts book presentations and in-depth discussions, while the majestic Castle of the Counts of Modica, overlooking Piazza della Repubblica, welcomes tasting counters and guided sessions. The castle also houses the Regional Wine Cellar of Western Sicily and the new Wine House, the hub of local oenological promotion.

Catarratto and the featured wines

At the heart of the event is Catarratto, specifically the Catarratto Lucido, a signature grape of the area prized for its freshness, minerality, and aromatic precision. The Alcamo DOC, established in 1972, is one of the oldest Sicilian denominations. Alongside local wineries, the event showcases Sicilian wines awarded the Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso's Vini d'Italia guide, creating a dialogue between legendary labels and emerging producers from the "Catarratto Boys" movement.
