About Alanno Agriculture Fair

Every April, Alanno—a key agricultural hub in the Pescara Valley—hosts the Agriculture and Crafts Fair, one of the longest-running and most cherished events in the Abruzzo hinterland. Spanning three days across the historic center and the "P. Cuppari" Agricultural Technical Institute, the event celebrates local agricultural and artisanal excellence through conferences, oil and wine tastings, exhibitions of ancient fruits, vegetables, and grains, and displays of modern farming machinery. This free-entry event brings together schools, businesses, families, and the community, blending tradition with sustainable innovation.

An agricultural tradition in the heart of the Pescara Valley

The Alanno Agriculture and Crafts Fair is a cornerstone of the Abruzzo agricultural calendar. Every spring, the town of Alanno—a Roman-era village perched at 307 meters above sea level and a vital agricultural center in the Pescara Valley—transforms into a grand showcase for rural life, traditional crafts, and local excellence. Now in its 44th edition in 2026, the event is organized by the Municipality of Alanno in partnership with the "P. Cuppari" Agricultural Technical Institute and the Fair Committee, fostering a unique synergy between education, industry, and the local community.

What to expect at the fair

The event unfolds throughout the historic center and near the Agricultural Institute campus, centered around Piazza Trieste and the town's main streets. The program covers the entire agricultural and artisanal supply chain of the Pescara province and the Abruzzo region:

  • Conferences and training courses on environmental sustainability, technological innovation, and the challenges facing the agricultural sector;
  • Extra virgin olive oil and wine tastings, showcasing the best of the Abruzzo hills;
  • Exhibitions of ancient fruits, vegetables, and grains, along with experimental crops that highlight the region's biodiversity;
  • Displays of cutting-edge agricultural machinery and equipment;
  • Stands featuring agricultural, food, and craft products from the area's top producers;
  • Open days at the "P. Cuppari" Institute laboratories, featuring demonstrations and hands-on experiences like greenhouse cheesemaking.

Schools, businesses, and community

What sets the Alanno Fair apart is its educational focus: the "P. Cuppari" Agricultural Technical Institute opens its classrooms and laboratories to visitors, creating a dialogue between students, companies, and families. The event serves as a platform to celebrate the hard work, knowledge, and roots of the region, bridging traditional farming practices with innovative, sustainable agricultural technology.

A free event for everyone

The Alanno Agriculture and Crafts Fair is free to attend and welcomes a wide audience: farmers and industry professionals, as well as families, curious visitors, and lovers of authentic Abruzzo products. With its mix of tastings, food stalls, artisan crafts, and educational opportunities, it offers an immersive experience into the rural identity of the Pescara Valley and the Abruzzo hinterland.
