The Christmas market in the village of the Goddess of Morgantina
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Aidone Christmas Fair is the festive market that lights up the historic center of Aidone—a small village in the province of Enna, Sicily—every December. Thanks to its stunning panoramic views over the valley and toward Mount Etna, Aidone is nicknamed the "Balcony of Sicily," a setting that provides a natural backdrop for an event that draws visitors from across the entire Enna region.
The heart of the fair is Piazza Filippo Cordova, in the town's historic core, from which the festivities spread through the surrounding streets. Along the route, you will find craft and local product stalls, as well as street food stands and tasting areas that fill the village with Christmas scents and atmosphere. A dedicated food zone offers seasonal delicacies, while children can enjoy activities and entertainment designed just for them.
The Christmas Fair is more than just a market: the program features a mix of magic shows, concerts and live music, circus performances, cabaret, show cooking sessions, and folkloric groups that enliven the evenings. There is also the traditional tombolata, a convivial ritual that brings together young and old, a staple of Sicilian festivities.
Promoted by the D.U.N.I. and EcoMuseo "I Semi di Demetra" associations in collaboration with the Municipality of Aidone, the fair is a recent addition to the local calendar: the first edition took place in December 2024, and by its second year, it had already established itself as one of the most anticipated winter events in Aidone. The goal is to promote the village, its local production, and its community, offering visitors an authentic experience during the most magical time of the year.
Visiting the Christmas Fair is also a great opportunity to discover Aidone and its extraordinary heritage. Just a few kilometers from the center lies the archaeological site of Morgantina, one of the most important Hellenistic areas in inland Sicily; the Archaeological Museum of Aidone houses the famous Goddess of Morgantina, a statue that returned to Italy after a long international dispute. It is a unique cultural context that makes Christmas in Aidone an experience blending celebration, popular tradition, and archaeology.
At the moment, the organizers of the Aidone Christmas Fair have not yet released the official dates for the 2026 edition. Based on previous editions, the event is traditionally held in December, in the days close to Christmas, in Piazza Filippo Cordova and the village's historic center.
The detailed program—featuring craft and local product stalls, street food, shows, live music, and the tombolata—will be published by the organizing associations and the Municipality of Aidone as soon as it becomes available. We invite you to check the official channels for confirmation of dates and times.
