The exhibition of artistic nativity scenes in the 'balcony of Sicily' village
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Perched at an altitude of over 700 meters, overlooking the valleys of the Salso, Dittaino, and Simeto rivers, Centuripe was described by Giuseppe Garibaldi as the balcony of Sicily. Every winter, this village in the province of Enna, in the heart of Eastern Sicily, dresses up for the holidays with Centuripe in the Nativity Scene, an exhibition that weaves together faith, tradition, folklore, and hospitality throughout the Christmas season.
The heart of the event is the widespread exhibition of artistic nativity scenes: streets, squares, alleys, and courtyards of the various districts of ancient Kentoripa become natural stages for nativities carefully crafted by residents and local associations. Visiting Centuripe during this period means exploring the town on foot in search of the nativity scenes, amidst lights, decorations, melodies, and the aromas of local specialties.
Alongside the nativity scenes, the Christmas program of the Municipality of Centuripe offers a long series of appointments for all ages:
A highly anticipated stop is the living nativity scene in the hamlet of Carcaci, generally scheduled for the first days of January. The performance is accompanied by Ruralia, featuring tastings and sales of typical local products, and religious moments, in a rural setting that restores the authentic atmosphere of Sicilian tradition.
Experiencing Christmas in Centuripe is also an opportunity to discover a village with a millennial history, with its star-shaped urban layout and the Regional Archaeological Museum that houses the testimonies of the ancient city. The event, active for several years and organized by the New Sfera Association with the support of the Municipality of Centuripe, is today one of the most characteristic Christmas appointments in the province of Enna.
The new edition of Centuripe in the Nativity Scene is expected, as per tradition, during the Christmas period between December 2026 and January 2027, with artistic nativity scenes set up in the districts of the village in the province of Enna. At the moment, the dates and the detailed program have not yet been published: this page will be updated as soon as the organizers release the official poster.
