When the river becomes an open-air gallery

There is a place, along the course of the Isonzo River, where art grows among the trees and dialogues with water and light: it is the Isonzo Park in Fiumicello, home to the AESON – Arts in Nature festival. Founded in 2008 by the ECOPARK Association, AESON is today one of the most original environmental art experiences in Friuli Venezia Giulia: not just an exhibition, but a research laboratory that uses the river landscape as its stage.

Land art, performances, and site-specific installations

The heart of the festival is land art: every year, new Italian and international artists create site-specific installations inspired by the materials and suggestions of the territory, enriching a collection of dozens of environmental works that can still be visited along the Isonzo. Alongside the installations, the program comes alive with dance and theatre performances, concerts, evening light shows, nature walks, and workshops for all ages.

A project of community and sustainability

AESON is much more than a festival: it is a path of artistic and social research that explores the boundary between art, nature, and community. The project extends far beyond the days of the event, with distributed itineraries (the AESON Atlas) that scatter environmental art works throughout the regional territory and into neighboring Slovenia, fostering a cross-border dialogue that makes this corner of Friuli a cultural crossroads.

Art, nature, and zero-kilometer flavors

During the festival evenings, there are also convivial moments, with catering services featuring zero-kilometer products from the region. Admission is free: an open invitation to everyone to immerse themselves in an experience that combines beauty, environmental awareness, and wonder.
