The market exhibition celebrating alpine flora and Walser traditions in Alagna Valsesia
In the heart of Alagna Valsesia, a charming Walser village in the Province of Vercelli and the final town in the Valsesia valley at the foot of the southern slopes of Monte Rosa, Achillea Ewulebi takes place every summer. This flower and plant market celebrates the botanical richness of the Alps. For two days, the town center transforms into an open-air trail of plants, flowers, and typical high-altitude essences, creating an atmosphere that blends nature, culture, and tradition.
The event's name tells the story of the territory's identity. "Ewulebi" is the term used in Titzschu, the ancient language spoken by the Walser community of Alagna, to identify yarrow: a plant symbolic of alpine meadows, known since ancient times for its aromatic and medicinal properties and still used today in the production of artisanal grappas and spirits. The event pays homage to this ancient knowledge and the deep bond between mountain dwellers and their flora.
Along the village streets, visitors can admire and purchase a curated selection of items linked to alpine biodiversity:
More than just a market, Achillea Ewulebi is an opportunity to get to know the Walser culture up close. This German-speaking population colonized the high valleys around Monte Rosa starting in the Middle Ages, leaving behind Alagna's characteristic wooden houses, customs, language, and a respectful relationship with the mountain environment. The event is part of the summer calendar that the Municipality of Alagna Valsesia and the Piedmont region dedicate to promoting the mountains, through excursions, nature, and food and wine.
The event is suitable for everyone: botany and gardening enthusiasts, mountain lovers, families, and tourists vacationing in the Monte Rosa area, who can combine a visit to the market with a hike along the trails of Valsesia. Free admission makes the event accessible to anyone wishing to spend a day in the open air among alpine colors, scents, and traditions.
For the 2026 edition, the Municipality of Alagna Valsesia confirms the appointment with Achillea Ewulebi on the weekend of June 27 and 28. The detailed program, including opening hours and the list of exhibitors, will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event. The contents that characterize the event are confirmed: the market exhibition of high-altitude plants, flowers, and essences, and the display of local crafts linked to the Walser tradition.
