Evening concert by the Teis brass band in the museum square
The Abendkonzert der Musikkapelle Teis is a summer tradition of brass music that brings the evenings to life in Teis (Tiso), a picturesque village in the municipality of Funes/Villnöß, in the Province of Bolzano, in the heart of Trentino-South Tyrol. At the foot of the Odle peaks, in one of the most evocative valleys of the Dolomites, the local band performs outdoors to treat the audience to evenings dedicated to South Tyrolean musical tradition.
The concert takes place on the Museumsplatz, the square in front of the famous Mineralienmuseum of Teis, a mineralogical museum known throughout South Tyrol for its Teiser Kugeln—porphyry quartz geodes containing agate, amethyst, and rock crystal found only in these mountains. The square thus becomes an open-air stage, with the village and the mountains providing a natural backdrop for an evening of music and conviviality.
The Musikkapelle Teis is the village brass band and a vibrant expression of South Tyrolean band culture, deeply rooted in village life and present at all major civil and religious events. During these summer evenings, the musicians in traditional costume perform a classic repertoire of Alpine Blasmusik: marches, polkas, waltzes, and traditional pieces, alongside lighter selections designed for audiences of all ages.
The evening concert is more than just music; it is a meeting point for the village and for guests vacationing in Val di Funes. During the evening, the women of the Bauernorganisation (the local farmers' association) manage a small refreshment stand with drinks, allowing the audience to relax and listen in a laid-back, informal atmosphere. Admission is free.
The Abendkonzert is the perfect opportunity to combine a day of hiking among the Odle peaks with an evening of authentic music. Those staying in Funes or the surrounding area can easily reach Teis and enjoy the open-air concert, soaking up the authentic atmosphere of a small mountain village where the band remains a symbol of the community's identity.
In the summer of 2026, the Musikkapelle Teis returns to the Museumsplatz in Teis (Funes/Villnöß) for two open-air evening concerts: Wednesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 19, 2026, both dates from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM approximately.
The evenings feature the typical repertoire of South Tyrolean brass music, with the village band in traditional costume performing in front of the Mineralienmuseum. Admission is free, and a refreshment stand with drinks managed by the Teis Bauernorganisation is available during the concert. In case of bad weather, the concert will not take place.
