A walking tour through the woods and hills of the Asti region
Every year, on the last Sunday of May, the small town of Tigliole, in the Province of Asti, transforms into a vast open-air trail. "A Spasso per Tigliole" is a non-competitive amateur walking event that winds through the hamlets, woods, valleys, and hills of the municipal territory, in the heart of the Asti Monferrato in Piedmont. Established in 2016, the event has grown with each edition to become one of the most beloved dates on the Asti hiking calendar, regularly selling out well in advance.
The event's main strength is the variety of its trails: they range from 5 to 42 kilometers, with marked loops designed to satisfy both families and casual Sunday walkers, as well as long-distance enthusiasts. The paths meander through vineyards, forests, and the numerous hamlets of Tigliole, allowing participants to discover local hospitality and restaurants. There are six refreshment points distributed along the routes, where walkers can refuel before continuing their journey.
An unmissable stop is the Hiker's Lunch, served at the finish line at the picturesque Romanesque Church of San Lorenzo, an architectural jewel that serves as the event's headquarters. It is the convivial moment that concludes the day, where participants gather after the efforts of the trails to enjoy traditional Piedmontese dishes.
"A Spasso per Tigliole" is much more than just a walk: it is a festival that involves the entire town. The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Tigliole in collaboration with the Municipality and all local associations, a sign of a community working as a team. In recent years, the organization has also focused on sustainability, inviting participants to bring a reusable cup or water bottle to reduce waste. According to the municipal administration, the walking format has proven to be a winning formula, bringing walkers, tourists, and enthusiasts to Tigliole throughout the rest of the year.
The 2026 edition, the tenth of the event, confirmed the success of the Tigliole walking tour, which was sold out well ahead of schedule with 1,200 participants expected on the trails of the Asti Monferrato.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Tigliole in collaboration with the Municipality and local associations, it offered marked routes for every level of walker, accompanied by a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The organization invited participants to bring a reusable cup or water bottle to reduce waste.
