The night when the historic center of Alessano becomes an open-air stage
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
There is one summer night when the small historic center of Alessano, nestled in the Capo di Leuca at the extreme south of the Lecce province, completely transforms. The squares, hidden courtyards, alleys, and historic palaces become one large open-air stage: this is A Night in the Village, the event that for over a decade has filled one of Salento's most authentic villages with people, sounds, and lights.
The idea is simple yet powerful: open the village to the city and visitors for just one night, connecting the most beautiful urban spaces of the historic center and entrusting them to artists, musicians, actors, artisans, and chefs. The result is a widespread festival where you can move freely from one corner to another, discovering a different performance at every step.
The heart of the event is Salento folk music, with pizzica and new sounds from the South taking center stage, accompanied by concerts from contemporary bands. But A Night in the Village is multidisciplinary by nature, and the program includes:
The various areas of the historic center โ from Piazza Castello to Piazza Don Tonino Bello, from ancient courtyards to the alleys of the Giudecca โ are each dedicated to a specific artistic language, so the entire village becomes a map to explore on foot, from scene to scene, until late at night.
Alessano is a municipality in lower Salento linked to the memory of Don Tonino Bello, a bishop and symbolic figure of peace and hospitality, to whom one of the central squares is dedicated. The event was born and grew in this spirit of community: promoted by the cultural association L.I.B.E.R. Azione together with the Municipality of Alessano, it is designed as a free, accessible event to be experienced together, capable of enhancing the village's heritage and the traditions of Puglia.
For those visiting Salento in summer, A Night in the Village is the perfect opportunity to discover a usually quiet historic center transformed into a collective celebration, where culture meets conviviality and the night becomes the moment when the village shines at its best.
At the moment, the organizers have not yet published the official dates for the 2026 edition of A Night in the Village in Alessano. Based on previous editions, the festival takes place in the month of August and transforms the historic center of the Salento village into a large, sprawling stage, with pizzica and folk music, theatrical performances, street artists, exhibitions, food and wine tours, and local crafts, all with free admission.
The complete program, including dates, artists, and times, will be announced by the cultural association L.I.B.E.R. Azione and the Municipality of Alessano in the weeks leading up to the event. This page will be updated as soon as official information becomes available.
