A non-competitive charity walk in the Valle di Daone
A Few Steps for Peace is a non-competitive charity walk held in the Valle di Daone, within the municipality of Valdaone (Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige), just a stone's throw from the border with the Valle del Chiese. Originally conceived as a moment for meeting and shared reflection, the event has become a traditional spring appointment that attracts citizens, families, and numerous local associations from the Giudicarie area every year.
The walk follows a simple, accessible path that winds through the villages of the Valle di Daone, including Daone, Praso, and Agrone, with the meeting point and start located in Bersone. Along the route, refreshment stations managed by volunteers provide participants with moments of rest and conviviality. As it is not a race, the event is designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, in good company, and suitable for all ages, from children to the elderly.
The heart of the event is solidarity: all proceeds are donated to non-profit organizations and humanitarian projects. The walk is organized by the Gruppo Campeggio with the patronage and collaboration of the municipalities of Valdaone and Pieve di Bono-Prezzo, the B.I.M. del Chiese, the Family District, the Cassa Rurale, and numerous local social, cultural, and sports associations. This network of collaboration is a testament to the strong community spirit that defines the Giudicarie and Valle del Chiese regions.
Beyond the sporting and recreational aspects, A Few Steps for Peace serves as an opportunity to reflect together on the themes of peace and brotherhood among peoples—values deeply felt in a territory like the Giudicarie, which is marked by the memory of the Great War. Walking through the valley's villages becomes a symbolic and concrete gesture, combining the joy of being outdoors with the desire to build, step by step, a more supportive world.
The 2026 edition of A Few Steps for Peace was held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, with the meeting point and start in Bersone. Registration opened at 1:00 PM, while the walk began at 2:00 PM along the non-competitive route crossing the villages of Daone, Praso, and Agrone, with refreshment stations provided along the way.
The highlight of the edition was the collective tapestry "Peace is woven together", created by citizens of the GiudicarieSI per la Pace group and displayed as a symbol of participation and shared commitment. The proceeds of the event were donated to the Noiperloro Onlus association, while the sale of strudel supported the Africa Rafiki project.
The event was organized by the Gruppo Campeggio with the patronage of the municipalities of Valdaone and Pieve di Bono-Prezzo, the B.I.M. del Chiese, the Family District, the Cassa Rurale, and numerous associations from the Giudicarie territory.
The Valle di Daone can be reached by car by traveling up the Valle del Chiese along the SS237 del Caffaro road, towards Pieve di Bono-Prezzo and Valdaone. The meeting point is in Bersone. By train, the reference stations are those on the Brescia-Edolo line (Val Camonica) or the hubs in lower Trentino, with connections available via local bus or car.
The walk is non-competitive and open to everyone; registration takes place on-site. Refreshment stations are available along the route. As this is a charity event, the registration fee and product sales support the beneficiary associations. Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended.
