The historic mechanical and agricultural fair in the village of Strasatti, Marsala
In the village of Strasatti, in the southern part of the Marsala municipality (Trapani province, Sicily), the 'A Fera di Strasatti takes place every summer. This historic Mechanical and Agricultural Exhibition has been drawing visitors from across the province and beyond for over seventy years. Held in Piazza Fiera di Strasatti, the event transforms the village for five days into a vibrant hub of celebration, work, and tradition.
The fair was founded in 1950, when the local community organized a door-to-door fundraiser to create an event for trading local produce and, above all, livestock. It was such a success that by 1951, the event was added to the official national calendar of fairs. Born as a recovery initiative in the difficult post-war Sicilian period, the village of Strasatti became a reference point for agricultural trade, attracting deals from other provinces of the island.
Starting in the 1960s, the fair evolved with the times: livestock gradually lost importance as mechanization developed, and tillers, tractors, and agricultural machinery became the true stars. This is how the event took on its current form as a mechanical and agricultural exhibition, dedicated to industry companies, displays of vehicles and equipment, as well as conferences and discussions on the world of agriculture.
Alongside the agricultural aspect, 'A Fera di Strasatti offers a rich array of initiatives that make it a true popular festival: craft trails, bicycle excursions, musical and sporting events, and evenings dedicated to local talent and the youth of the village and Marsala. There is no shortage of tastings of local specialties, from the famous Marsala wine to Sicilian street food like panelle, arancine, and cannoli, which enliven the evenings alongside live music and shows.
The 2026 edition marks the 74th year of the exhibition, organized by the 'A Fera di Strasatti Committee with the involvement of dozens of volunteers, associations, and local businesses. The artistic direction is entrusted to the comedy duo Trikke e Due (Enzo Amato Màs and Nicola Anastasi). More than just an event, 'A Fera remains a defining tradition that weaves together farming heritage, popular culture, and a sense of belonging for the entire community of Marsala and the province of Trapani.
The dates for the 74th edition of 'A Fera di Strasatti are official: the exhibition will be held in Marsala, at Piazza Fiera di Strasatti, from July 31 to August 4, 2026. The organization is managed by the 'A Fera di Strasatti Committee, chaired by Antonino Pulizzi, with artistic direction by the duo Trikke e Due (Enzo Amato Màs and Nicola Anastasi). Traditional agricultural machinery displays, evening shows, live music, a night dedicated to local talent, and tasting trails of local specialties are expected. The detailed program will be announced by the committee in the weeks leading up to the event.
The fair is held in Piazza Fiera di Strasatti, in the village of Strasatti, a southern district of Marsala (ZIP code 91025), in the province of Trapani.
