About 9 Miles of Bra

The 9 Miles of Bra (Nove Miglia) is one of the most beloved road running races in Piedmont. Every spring, in the early light of March, hundreds of runners flood the streets of Bra, located in the heart of the Roero area in the province of Cuneo, to tackle the 15.4-kilometer traditional city course. Organized by Atletica Avis Bra Gas under the patronage of the Municipality of Bra, the event awards the "Natale Germanetti" Trophy and has been opening the Piedmontese regional running season for over thirty years, attracting national-level athletes and thousands of enthusiasts.

A classic of Piedmontese running

The 9 Miles of Bra, also known as Nove Miglia, is a competitive 15.4-kilometer road race held annually in Bra, an elegant town in the Roero area of the province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Reaching its 34th edition in 2026, it is considered by many to be "one of the most beautiful races in the entire Piedmontese running scene" and represents a fixed appointment for those who practice road athletics in Northwest Italy.

The course and tradition

The route winds through the streets and roads of Bra, crossing the town center and its surroundings for a total distance of 15.4 km. The race awards the prestigious "Natale Germanetti" Trophy and is organized by Atletica Avis Bra Gas in collaboration with the Municipality of Bra. With over twenty years of history and hundreds of participants in each edition, the event has earned a prominent place in the regional calendar, attracting athletes from the men's and women's national marathon teams.

First stage of the CorriPiemonte

The 9 Miles of Bra traditionally opens the season of the CorriPiemonte Road Trophy, the regional circuit that brings together numerous road races distributed across almost all Piedmontese provinces. Being the 1st stage of the CorriPiemonte gives the Bra event a special value: it is here that many runners begin to test themselves in view of the long spring and summer competitive season. The race is certified by FIDAL Piedmont and is open to Cadetti, Allievi, Juniores, Promesse, Master, and Seniores categories, both men and women.

Atmosphere and participation

Despite the still wintry climate of early March, the 9 Miles of Bra attracts a growing number of participants every year, a sign of a lively and loyal running movement. The streets of Bra's historic center come alive with colors, applause, and the warmth of the public, while runners challenge each other between competition and a festive spirit. The event is also an opportunity to discover Bra, a Roero city famous for its sausage, its proximity to the Langhe, and for being the cradle of the Slow Food movement.

An event for everyone

Although it is a competitive regional-level race, the 9 Miles of Bra retains the soul of classic town races: the organization managed by the volunteers of Atletica Avis Bra, the awards ceremonies, the involvement of the entire Bra community, and the warm welcome make this event much more than just a running race. It is an appointment that combines sport, tradition, and territorial identity in the spirit of the Roero and Piedmont.
