Three days of celebration for the 70th anniversary of the Reano Alpini
In May 2026, the Reano Alpini Group reached the prestigious milestone of its 70th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the local Alpini organized three days of events in close synergy with the Turin ANA Section, turning the small town in the Metropolitan City of Turin into a gathering point for Alpini, authorities, and the local community.
Reano is a small town in Piedmont, located about thirty kilometers from Turin between the Val Sangone and the lower Val di Susa, known for its castle and the parish church of San Giorgio Martire. In a community of just over 1,700 inhabitants, the Alpini Group has been a cornerstone of local life, volunteering, and traditions for decades: the 70th-anniversary celebration was experienced as a true collective festival.
The festivities took place over the weekend of May 15–17, 2026:
The musical heart of Sunday's events was the ANA Valsusa Fanfare, conducted by maestro Danilo Bellando, which accompanied the procession and ceremonies with traditional Alpini marches and songs, providing participants with one of the most moving moments of the gathering.
More than just an anniversary, the event served as an opportunity to reflect on the Group's history, honor deceased members, and reaffirm the values of volunteering, solidarity, and attachment to the land that define the National Alpini Association. The event was part of the busy calendar of gatherings and celebrations that animated the entire Turin ANA Section and Piedmont—a region with a deep-rooted Alpini tradition—throughout 2026.
From May 15 to 17, 2026, the Reano Alpini Group celebrated seventy years since its foundation. Friday, May 15, featured a community dinner with a singing performance to open the festivities; on Sunday, May 17, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the official gathering, institutional ceremonies, and the commemorative parade took place through the streets of Reano, in the Metropolitan City of Turin.
Reano is located about 30 km from Turin, between the Val Sangone and the lower Val di Susa. By car, it can be reached from the Turin ring road (tangenziale) by taking the exit toward Rivoli/Avigliana and continuing on provincial roads. By train, the reference stations are on the Turin-Modane line (Avigliana, Rosta), with onward travel by car or local bus.
For details on the event, you can contact the Turin ANA Section (tel. +39 011 745563, e-mail [email protected]) or the Municipality of Reano (tel. +39 011 9310244). The ceremonies and the parade took place in the streets and squares of the town center and were open to the public.
