The symphony of the Alps returns to Bagnolo Piemonte

The Ferragosto Symphonic Concert is one of Piedmont's most beloved musical traditions: every August 15, great symphonic music heads to the mountains in the Province of Cuneo for a free, open-air concert. For its 46th edition, the event takes place in Rucas, at an altitude of 1,560 meters, within the municipality of Bagnolo Piemonte, nestled between the Infernotto Valley and the slopes overlooking the Monviso.

An event born in 1981

The event originated in 1981, when the first concert was held at high altitude at the foot of the Monviso, near the Quintino Sella Refuge. Since then, the Ferragosto Concert has become a staple of the summer calendar and Rai's programming, moving year after year among the mountain locations of the Cuneo area and bringing classical music to unconventional settings: meadows, peaks, and the open sky of mid-August. It is a simple yet powerful concept, built over the years thanks to the Bartolomeo Bruni Orchestra and Tgr Piemonte.

The Bartolomeo Bruni Orchestra

The absolute star is the Bartolomeo Bruni Orchestra of the City of Cuneo, a historic local symphonic ensemble that crafts a program each year designed for a wide audience, making it accessible and engaging. The repertoire for the 46th edition will be unveiled in the months leading up to the event during the official press conference.

Live on Rai 3

As per tradition, the concert is broadcast live on national television on Rai 3, featuring a special Tgr report produced by the Piedmont editorial team and the Rai "Piero Angela" Production Center in Turin. The live broadcast brings the scenery of the Cuneo Alps and the music of the Bruni Orchestra into homes across Italy, making Ferragosto in the mountains an event that transcends regional borders.

A local landmark event

The event is promoted by the Piedmont Region together with a wide network of local entities: the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation, the Cuneo Chamber of Commerce, the Province of Cuneo, and the Cuneo ATL. For the municipality of Bagnolo Piemonte and the entire Infernotto Valley, the 2026 edition represents a major opportunity for tourism and cultural promotion, capable of attracting thousands of people on a single morning of Ferragosto.
