The 30 km road race between Campi Bisenzio and Signa
The 30 'n Piana is one of the most anticipated autumn running events in Tuscany. Held in Campi Bisenzio, in the province of Florence, it offers a challenging yet accessible distance: 30 kilometres on a mostly flat course—a name that plays on the local dialect and the "piana" (plain) it traverses. The event is organised by ASD Atletica Campi Bisenzio, a historic sports club based at the Zatopek Stadium on Via di Gramignano.
The route loops through the municipalities of Campi Bisenzio and Signa, following a mix of asphalt and gravel roads. Much of the course runs away from traffic, cutting through the countryside, along riverbanks, and over cycle paths. Both the start and finish lines are located in Piazza Dante, in the heart of Campi Bisenzio. The flat nature of the Florence Plain makes for a fast course, ideal for runners looking to set a personal best, with refreshment stations provided along the way.
30 'n Piana is no ordinary race: it is an official UISP Tuscan 30 km Road Championship event, held under the aegis of the UISP Florence Committee. This gives the race a highly competitive edge, attracting runners from across the region. At the same time, its position in the calendar makes it a popular choice for those training for the Florence Marathon in late November, providing the perfect long-distance final tune-up.
Beyond the sporting aspect, 30 'n Piana is a cherished event for the Campi Bisenzio community, supported by the local council and the dedicated volunteers of local running clubs. The finisher's medal features a sheep, a traditional symbol of Campi, highlighting the race's deep connection to local identity. Entries are capped to ensure high-quality organisation and participant safety.
The 30 'n Piana 2026 returns on Sunday, 8 November, cementing its status as a key autumn running event in Tuscany. The start is set for 8:30 am from Piazza Dante, in the centre of Campi Bisenzio, with the finish line located in the same square after 30 kilometres.
In 2026, the race remains an official UISP Tuscan 30 km Road Championship event, maintaining its competitive spirit. Entries are limited to 800 participants.
