Celebrating 130 years of the band that kicks off the summer in Tavagnasco
Founded in 1896, the Società Filarmonica Vittoria is one of the most beloved institutions in Tavagnasco, a small town in the Province of Turin nestled at the gateway to the Aosta Valley along the Dora Baltea river. In 2026, the band celebrates its 130th anniversary (1896-2026) with a festive evening that not only honors a long musical tradition but also marks the official start of the Tavagnasco Summer, a calendar of events that brings the town to life during the warmer months.
The event, hosted at the Verney area and the local sports hall, combines two staples of Piedmontese village festivals: great food and live music. The evening kicks off in the late afternoon with the opening of food stalls accompanied by a DJ set, followed by the main event: the band concert. The baton is passed between several maestros who have led the Philharmonic over the years, in a collective tribute to its history, while the night concludes with the infectious rhythm of the Modern Fanfara.
True to the best traditions of the Canavese region, the stalls offer simple, authentic dishes to suit every taste:
Free admission and a family-friendly atmosphere make this event suitable for all ages, providing the perfect occasion to gather at the start of summer.
This festival is not an isolated event; it is the first stop on a busy summer program that continues in the following weeks with the Santa Margherita Festival, the historic Festa ai Piani, and, in early September, the Miassa Festival, dedicated to the local specialty. A series of events that weaves together music, flavors, tradition, and mountain scenery, confirming Tavagnasco as a vibrant destination for slow tourism in Piedmont.
Attending means experiencing the authentic community spirit of a Piedmontese village, supporting a musical band that has accompanied the town's life and celebrations for over a century, and discovering a corner of the Canavese often off the beaten path, yet rich in history and human warmth.
Free admission. The evening officially launched the summer calendar of Tavagnasco (TO), in Piedmont.
