The 100 km of Parco della Favorita

The 100 km of Parco della Favorita is an amateur road cycling race that brings the excitement of Sicilian cycling into the Parco della Favorita, the historic Bourbon hunting park that serves as the largest green space in Palermo, at the foot of Monte Pellegrino. Organized by ASD Ciclotour, the event is dedicated to the memory of Pierino and Giacomino Alamia and marks a welcome return of road racing to the park, following a period of suspension imposed by the City Council to reduce traffic disruption.

The Course and Format

The race is known for its spectacular format: a 5 km circuit laid out along the park's avenues, to be repeated 20 times to cover the full 100 km distance. The race begins with a single start, a tactical choice that makes the competition unpredictable and rewards large teams and well-executed breakaways over waiting for the final laps. The route winds through the park's internal avenues—including Viale Diana, Viale Ercole, and the Fontana d'Ercole area—which are closed to vehicular traffic for the occasion to ensure rider safety.

A Staple of Sicilian Cycling

The race is reserved for FCI-registered cyclists and those from Sports Promotion Bodies, and it is part of the Coppa Sicilia / Sicilia Cycling Challenge, the calendar that brings together the island's main amateur events. Established in 2024 with the 1st Pierino and Giacomino Alamia Memorial, the 100 km of the Park has quickly established itself as a popular addition to the regional amateur scene, successfully blending competitive spirit with a stunning natural setting.

The Setting: Parco della Favorita and Palermo

Hosting the race within Parco della Favorita gives it a unique charm: the park, commissioned by Ferdinand III of Bourbon in the late 18th century, is a landmark of Palermo, the capital of the Sicilian Region. Surrounded by pines, oaks, and the silhouette of Monte Pellegrino, the event offers cyclists and spectators a day of sport in one of the most beloved natural settings in Palermo.

Note: The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been confirmed. The event was initially scheduled for spring but has been officially postponed; the new date will be announced by the organizers.
