A road race through the vineyards of the Piana Rotaliana in Mezzolombardo
The 10 Miglia del Teroldego is one of the most distinctive road races in the Trentino running calendar. Every spring, the historic center of Mezzolombardo—a municipality in the Autonomous Province of Trento, nestled in the heart of the Piana Rotaliana—becomes the start and finish line for a race that takes athletes through one of the most celebrated wine-growing landscapes in Trentino-Alto Adige, home to the native Teroldego grape.
The distance is the unusual and fascinating 10 true miles, or 16.093 km: a measurement rooted in Anglo-Saxon tradition that has become the event's signature. The largely flat course is split between asphalt and dirt tracks, crossing open fields, rows of vines, and the banks of the Noce stream, all framed by the mountain range that encloses the plain.
The 10 Miglia del Teroldego is a recognized FIDAL national race and is therefore open to registered athletes, but the event has always maintained a popular and inclusive soul. Alongside the competitive race, there is the 5-mile non-competitive run, a shorter course open to everyone—runners, walkers, and families—where you can even register on-site on the day of the race. This non-competitive event is dedicated to the memory of two figures dear to the local running community.
The race starts in the late afternoon to take advantage of the cooler hours, leading to a convivial atmosphere at the finish line: afterward, Piazza delle Erbe hosts the classic pasta party and the awards ceremony, where every participant is treated to a plate of pasta and a good glass of wine, along with a race pack and a commemorative medal.
The event is organized by the Atletica Rotaliana sports club, with the patronage of the Municipality of Mezzolombardo and the support of local entities. The race is part of the Trentino running calendar and highlights one of the local area's flagship products, Teroldego Rotaliano wine, inviting runners from all over Italy to discover the Piana Rotaliana on foot.
The 8th edition of the 10 Miglia del Teroldego took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Mezzolombardo. The day's program included a meeting point in Piazza delle Erbe in the afternoon, bib collection, and the start of the 16.093 km competitive race in the late afternoon, followed by the 5-mile non-competitive run open to runners and families.
The course, half asphalt and half dirt, crossed the Teroldego vineyards and the banks of the Noce stream. At the finish line in Piazza delle Erbe, the pasta party and awards ceremony were held, with a race pack, medal, and a glass of wine for every participant. The organization was handled by Atletica Rotaliana with the patronage of the Municipality of Mezzolombardo.
