The Bundesliga club's summer training camp on the Naz-Sciaves plateau, featuring a public Fanfest in the town square.
Since 2023, the municipality of Naz-Sciaves (Natz-Schabs)—nestled on the sunny apple-orchard plateau between Bressanone and the Puster Valley in South Tyrol—has become a summer destination for the historic German football club 1. FC Heidenheim 1846. Each July, the team moves here for their pre-season camp, bringing the energy and spotlight of professional football to this quiet mountain village.
The partnership between the club and the Naz-Sciaves Tourist Board has proven so successful that it has been extended until 2027: a bond that perfectly blends high-level sport with the warm hospitality of South Tyrol.
During the training week, the team practices at the Laugen sports facility on the ASV Natz pitches, taking advantage of the plateau's ideal conditions. Most sessions are open to the public, allowing fans, curious visitors, and families to watch the training up close and experience the excitement of a professional camp. The team also plays one or two friendly matches against other clubs; in previous editions, they have faced notable opponents from the Austrian and South Tyrolean football scenes.
The most anticipated moment for locals and tourists alike is the Fanfest, held in the Market Square of Naz. Integrated into the local "Summernacht Feschtl" summer festival, this evening turns the town center into a meeting point between the Bundesliga players and their fans. With no barriers or fences, players mingle with the crowd, sign jerseys for the kids, and pose for photos. It is a rare opportunity for fans to connect with professionals in the informal, convivial setting typical of South Tyrolean villages.
The 1. FC Heidenheim training camp is much more than just athletic preparation: it has become an event that promotes Naz-Sciaves as a premier tourist and sports destination, bringing international visibility to a region known for its apple orchards, scenic trails, and high quality of life. For the municipality and the entire plateau, hosting a Bundesliga team is a source of pride and a major attraction that draws fans from both sides of the Alps every summer.
The 2026 edition of the 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 training camp in Naz-Sciaves (Natz-Schabs) is officially confirmed for July 17-25, 2026, marking the third consecutive year on the plateau in the province of Bolzano. The team will again stay at Hotel Jonathan and train at the local sports facility.
Throughout the week, open training sessions, one or two friendly matches, and the traditional Fanfest in the square of Naz are expected, featuring autographs and meet-and-greets with the players. The detailed schedule of friendly matches and public events will be published by the Naz-Sciaves Tourist Board in the weeks leading up to the camp.
Naz-Sciaves is located on the plateau above Bressanone (Brixen) in South Tyrol. By car: take the Bressanone/Val Pusteria exit from the A22 Brenner motorway, then drive up towards Naz. By train: Bressanone station on the Brenner line, followed by a local bus to the plateau.
Open training sessions and the Fanfest in the square are free of charge. Exact dates for friendly matches and public events are announced by the Tourist Board closer to the training camp.
