The cycling festival in the heart of Bressanone
The bike festa Südtirol is the cycling event that brings the historic center of Bressanone (Brixen), in the province of Bolzano, South Tyrol, to life. Launched in 2025, the festival transforms Cathedral Square and the town's medieval alleys for four days into a grand stage dedicated to cycling in all its forms: from road bikes to mountain bikes, gravel to e-bikes, and even city bikes for daily commuting.
The experience is structured around four areas that explore the world of cycling from different perspectives:
The calendar includes numerous activities spread throughout the historic center: the Innovation Gallery dedicated to designers and mobility startups, the Expo Area with test rides and product trials, the Art Corner, and the Bike Film Tour, a selection of short films (a 120-minute program) celebrating the versatility of the bicycle across sports, daily mobility, and adventure travel. There is also space for children with the Kids Programme, featuring obstacle courses and fun races set up in the heart of the city.
Organized by Bressanone Tourism, the bike festa Südtirol was created with the ambition of becoming a landmark event for cycling culture in South Tyrol, located in one of Italy's most bike-friendly regions. The choice of Bressanone, one of the oldest cities in the historic Tyrol, combines the charm of a medieval center with the richness of the Isarco Valley landscape, offering professionals, enthusiasts, and families an experience that merges innovation, movement, and conviviality.
From September 17 to 20, 2026, the bike festa Südtirol returns to animate the historic center of Bressanone (Brixen), South Tyrol, for its second edition. The four-area format is confirmed — Brand festa, Ride festa, People festa, and Gusto festa — guiding visitors, enthusiasts, and families through the Expo Area, Innovation Gallery, test rides, guided tours towards the vineyards and the Plose mountain, the Bike Film Tour, and tastings of typical Isarco Valley products. While the dates are official, the full program including times, workshops, and guests is currently being finalized by Bressanone Tourism.
Bressanone/Brixen can be reached by train along the Brenner line (Bressanone/Brixen stop), with connections from Bolzano, Verona, and Innsbruck. By car, take the Bressanone exit on the A22 Brenner motorway. The nearest airport is Bolzano; major hubs are in Verona and Innsbruck.
Activities take place in the historic center of Bressanone, with the epicenter at Cathedral Square and the surrounding alleys; tours reach the vineyards of the Isarco Valley and the Plose mountain.
Advance registration on the official website is recommended for test rides and guided tours. Bressanone offers a wide range of accommodation, ideal for those wishing to extend their stay and cycle through the valleys of South Tyrol.
