The summer festival of the Madonna dei Canneti district in Cerveteri
Every July, the Madonna dei Canneti district turns Cerveteri into a vibrant stage of taste and conviviality with the Zucchini Flower Festival. What started as a small neighborhood fair has rapidly grown into one of the city's most beloved summer events, located in the province of Rome, in the heart of the Etruscan Lazio region.
As the name suggests, the true king of the festival is the fried zucchini flower, prepared according to the traditional recipe of the Madonna dei Canneti district using local, zero-kilometer ingredients. Served in a variety of delicious ways, it has become the event's signature dish, attracting thousands of visitors. Alongside this iconic treat, food stalls offer specialties from Lazio and local Cerveteri cuisine, creating a journey of authentic flavors throughout the evenings.
The Zucchini Flower Festival is about more than just food: every evening, the stage hosts live concerts featuring local bands and traditional Roman folk music, while craft stalls, fairground rides, and entertainment for the little ones make this an event designed for the whole family. The atmosphere is that of a genuine neighborhood festival, where tradition, social connection, and a sense of community blend together on warm summer nights.
Organized with the dedication of the district's volunteers, the festival is supported by the Municipality of Cerveteri, the Lazio Region, and Arsial. In 2026, for its fifth edition, the event moved to via degli Angeli Ceretani, within the grounds of the Enrico Galli Sports Field, to accommodate an ever-growing audience. For three days, amidst flavors, music, and tradition, Cerveteri rediscovers the value of its neighborhood festivals and the pleasure of coming together.
