The Euregio singer-songwriter festival in Dobbiaco
The Winto.klong – Euregio Singer/Songwriter Festival is an annual winter event that gathers the best singer-songwriters from the Euroregion in Dobbiaco/Toblach, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige Region). The festival takes place in the prestigious Euregio Cultural Centre Gustav Mahler, within the Gustav Mahler Hall, and has made the art of songwriting its signature hallmark.
Winto.klong was born as a live contest open to singer-songwriters from the three souls of the Euregio: South Tyrol, Trentino, and Tyrol (North and East). Artists perform original songs written by themselves, sung in German, Italian, or Ladin, either solo or accompanied by a band. A jury of experts selects the finalists who then compete on stage, with the audience also invited to vote.
The festival day is not limited to the evening live music. The program includes workshops and discussion sessions dedicated to songwriting, recording, distribution, and social media communication. It is a valuable opportunity for young local artists to grow and network with other musicians. The contest winners receive tangible prizes, such as studio recording sessions, professional music videos, and photo shoots.
The municipality of Dobbiaco, located at the entrance to the Puster Valley and at the foot of the Sesto Dolomites, has always been linked to the figure of Gustav Mahler, who composed some of his most famous works here. The Cultural Centre dedicated to him is now a landmark for musical life in South Tyrol and hosts, in addition to Winto.klong, the famous Gustav Mahler Music Weeks. Participating in the festival means immersing yourself in an intimate and cozy atmosphere in one of the most evocative mountain locations in the Trentino-Alto Adige Region.
The 2026 edition of Winto.klong marked an absolute novelty: for the first time, the festival was presented in a "Best-of" version, gathering on the stage of the Gustav Mahler Hall some of the most appreciated singer-songwriters from previous editions. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, starting at 7:30 PM, the Euregio Cultural Centre in Dobbiaco offered an evening dedicated to singer-songwriter music, featuring stories, voices, and melodies capable of touching the heart.
The special guest of the evening was Sepp Messner Windschnur, who, with irony, charm, and his unmistakable dialect, recounted episodes of daily life in music, reflecting the people and the unique characteristics of his land. As per tradition, the festival combined concerts with workshops and moments of exchange between artists and the audience.
The festival is held at the Euregio Cultural Centre Gustav Mahler, at Dolomitenstraße 41 in Dobbiaco/Toblach (BZ). Dobbiaco is accessible by train along the Puster Valley line (Fortezza–San Candido) and by car via the SS49. The nearest airport is Innsbruck; alternatively, Venice or Verona.
Tickets and updated information are available on the Cultural Centre's website (kulturzentrum-toblach.eu) or by calling +39 0474 976151.
Dobbiaco offers numerous accommodation options, ideal for a snow holiday in the Sesto Dolomites and the Three Peaks area.
