A food and wine trail through the alleys of Borgo Sant'Andrea in Rometta
Wine Not? is the food and wine event that brings Borgo Sant'Andrea to life every summerโa village in Rometta Superiore perched on the hills behind Messina. For one night, the alleys, stairways, and small squares of the village transform into an open-air tasting trail, where guests stroll from stall to stall with a glass in hand, meeting producers directly. The event's motto, "Every glass tells a story," perfectly captures its spirit: behind every label lies the tale of a winery, a vineyard, and a territory.
The festival brings together dozens of wineries, primarily Sicilian but with guest producers from other Italian regions, offering hundreds of labels to taste. Alongside white, red, and rosรฉ wines, you will find sparkling wines, dessert wines, liqueurs, spirits, and craft beers. The wine selection is curated in collaboration with AIS Sicilia (Italian Sommelier Association), which also hosts masterclasses dedicated to the wines and appellations of the Messina area and Sicily.
The culinary offerings are provided by numerous local street food stands, in partnership with Slow Food Messina, focusing on "good, clean, and fair" local products, managed via a convenient token system. The evening's soundtrack alternates between live concerts, featuring bands like Mizzica, and DJ sets spread across the food area and the village squares, alongside photographic exhibitions and installations that highlight the historic center.
Organized by the Pro Loco Sabatina - Sant'Andrea APS, which has been active in the area for decades, and supported by the Municipality of Rometta, Wine Not? has become one of the premier food and wine events of the summer in the province of Messina, Sicily. The evening format, the village setting, and the chance to engage with producers make it an experience designed for both connoisseurs and those looking to discover wine in an informal, convivial way.
Access is by reservation only via the official event website due to limited capacity. We recommend booking in advance and checking official channels for the updated list of wineries, the musical program, and participation details.
