The festival of traditional products from the Nisi Valley and the Peloritani Mountains in Fiumedinisi
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Capricci d'Autunno is one of the most beloved festivals in the Peloritani area, an event that for over twenty years has drawn visitors from across the province of Messina and the nearby Ionian coast to Fiumedinisi. The festival, dedicated to local agricultural, livestock, gastronomic, and artisanal products from the Nisi Valley and the Peloritani Mountains, takes place between late October and November, when the village is painted in the colors of autumn.
Throughout the festival, the heart of Fiumedinisi comes alive with stalls and stands. Corso Stefano Bottari, Piazza Matrice, and Piazza San Pietro host local producers offering rustic specialties, cheeses, cured meats, traditional sweets, preserves, honey, and handcrafted goods. The common thread is the rediscovery of the authentic flavors of a rural territory that has successfully preserved its traditions.
A major highlight of the festival is the Mamertino DOC, one of the oldest wines in history, already mentioned by Julius Caesar and produced with grapes grown in the Nisi Valley and the surrounding municipalities of Messina. The festival editions often feature masterclasses and guided tastings dedicated to Mamertino white, red, and riserva wines, with the participation of sommeliers and local producers.
Capricci d'Autunno is more than just gastronomy: the program alternates between Sicilian folk music performances and folklore groups and activities to explore the area. Guided tours are available for the ancient village, local churches, the ethno-anthropological museum, and the historical and architectural heritage of Fiumedinisi, alongside excursions to the Belvedere Castle and the Fiumedinisi and Monte Scuderi Nature Reserve, an area of great geological and natural value.
Located at an altitude of approximately 190 meters along the Nisi stream, just a few kilometers from the Ionian coast, the town of Fiumedinisi (Sicily Region, Metropolitan City of Messina) is an authentic balcony overlooking the Peloritani Mountains. The festival, organized by the Pro Loco of Fiumedinisi with the support of the Municipality, is the perfect opportunity to combine the pleasures of the table with the discovery of a village rich in history, nature, and tradition.
The new edition of Capricci d'Autunno in Fiumedinisi is scheduled, following the tradition of the event, for the autumn period between late October and November. The dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been made official by the organizers. For next year as well, the historic center of the village is expected to host food and wine stalls featuring typical products from the Nisi Valley and the Peloritani Mountains, Mamertino DOC tastings, folk music, and guided tours. To find out the updated calendar, we invite you to consult the official channels of the Pro Loco of Fiumedinisi and the Municipality.
