The king of autumn in the medieval village of Cusercoli, in the Bidente Valley
The White Truffle Festival of the Bidente Valley (also known as the White Truffle Festival of Romagna) takes place in Cusercoli, a charming hamlet of the Municipality of Civitella di Romagna, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in the heart of the Romagna Apennines. For two Sundays in November, the village transforms into a showcase for Tuber magnatum Pico, the prized white truffle that reaches the peak of its ripeness and aroma during this period.
The festival boasts an exceptional setting: the Castle of Cusercoli, which overlooks the valley and opens its doors for guided tours during the event, featuring its hanging gardens, historic rooms, and the nearby church. The village streets fill with stalls and aromas, offering visitors the intimate and authentic atmosphere of a local festival, quite different from the more crowded large truffle fairs.
The white truffle of the Bidente is best enjoyed raw, thinly sliced over hot dishes that enhance its aroma: fried eggs, tagliatelle and other fresh pasta, risotto, crostini, and meats. Among the local specialties, it is often paired with raveggiolo, a fresh cheese typical of the area. At the food stalls, you can taste traditional Romagna dishes seasoned with the precious tuber.
The event, organized by the Pro Loco Chiusa d'Ercole, is one of the most cherished autumn food and wine events in the Bidente Valley and attracts thousands of gourmets to Civitella di Romagna every year. It's an opportunity to discover a less-traveled corner of Emilia-Romagna, filled with castles, villages, and a high-quality truffle tradition.
The White Truffle Festival of the Bidente Valley returns to Cusercoli, a hamlet of Civitella di Romagna (FC), for two Sundays in November 2026. The first date, November 8, 2026, is confirmed by the official fair registry of the Emilia-Romagna Region; as per tradition, the festival continues the following Sunday, November 15, 2026.
For 2026, the medieval village and the Castle of Cusercoli will once again provide the backdrop for the truffle hunters' stalls from the Bidente Valley, typical Apennine products, local crafts, live music, and the award ceremony for the largest and most fragrant truffle. The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by Pro Loco Chiusa d'Ercole in the weeks leading up to the event.
