The night that kicks off summer in the historic center of Nardò
The White Night of Commerce has become the signature event that inaugurates the summer season in Nardò, an elegant Baroque city in the province of Lecce, Puglia. For an entire evening, the historic center, with its streets and squares framed by Salento Baroque architecture, turns into a vast, sprawling stage where music, entertainment, and commerce intertwine until the early hours. The motto of the most recent edition, "shopping until late!", perfectly captures the spirit of the event: an evening stroll among illuminated shop windows, concerts, and entertainment, with businesses staying open well past their usual closing times.
The White Night follows a roaming format: dozens of musical and artistic stations are distributed throughout the city center. Piazza Salandra, Nardò's Baroque living room, along with Corso Galliano, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Via Grassi, Via Tasso, Piazza San Domenico, and many other streets, host cover bands, live sets, tributes to Italian music legends, DJ sets, freestyle football battles, and street performances. There are also dedicated areas for children, featuring entertainment, inflatables, and workshops designed for families.
The heart of the evening is live music, with genres ranging from singer-songwriter rock to pop, and from tributes to Italian icons to high-energy live performances. Alongside the stages, the event offers:
The White Night of Commerce was born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Nardò, the Nardò Merchants' Union (UCN), and the Urban Commerce District (DUC), with artistic direction entrusted to local musical entities. It is much more than just a night of shopping; it is a community moment that celebrates local commerce and the fabric of small city businesses, restoring the historic center's role as a meeting place. Admission is free, and the event attracts thousands of people every year from Nardò, its seaside resorts, and across all of Salento.
On Monday, June 1, 2026, the historic center of Nardò hosted the new edition of the White Night of Commerce, which inaugurated the Nardò summer with approximately 20,000 attendees arriving from all over Salento. Promoted by the Municipality of Nardò with the Nardò Merchants' Union (UCN) and the Urban Commerce District (DUC), the event spread music and shows across dozens of squares and streets in the center, with businesses remaining open past their usual evening hours.
Musical direction was entrusted to the Musicalmente association led by Piero Plantera, while children's activities were curated by Vincenzo Manieri and BabyParty. Locations involved included: Piazza Salandra, Corso Galliano, Via Grassi, Via Tasso, Piazza San Domenico, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, and Piazza della Repubblica.
Children's areas with entertainment and inflatables, markets, and shops open late into the night throughout the historic center.
Nardò is located in the province of Lecce, in Salento. By car, it can be reached via the SS 101 Lecce-Gallipoli road; by train, via the Ferrovie Sud Est station. The event takes place in the historic center, with traffic and parking restrictions in the affected streets: it is recommended to use parking areas near the center and proceed on foot.
The event runs from late afternoon until late at night. Admission is free. Many shops remain open beyond their usual evening hours.
Wear comfortable clothing to move between the various stations in the historic center. The event is family-friendly thanks to the dedicated children's areas.
