A white night dedicated to art

The White & Art Festival is the grand white night of Margherita di Savoia, a town in the Barletta-Andria-Trani province famous for its salt pans—the largest in Europe—and its long Adriatic beach. For one August evening, the streets of the town centre—the so-called 'salt roads'—remain vibrant until late at night, transforming into an immersive trail of art, music, and performance open to residents and tourists alike.

The event was born from the idea of bringing art out of traditional venues and directly to the people: the streets are filled with artistic and photographic exhibitions, local craft stalls, and scenic installations that celebrate the town's salt-making identity.

Street art, murals, and street performers

The festival's hallmark is its strong connection to street art. Over the years, various writers and street artists have created live murals intended to remain on the city walls, enriching its urban artistic heritage. The event has cultivated a deep bond with the mural tradition of the Capitanata region and the Puglian hinterland, fostering a dialogue between mural painting, illustration, and contemporary art.

Alongside the murals, the streets are populated by roving street performers, live acts, entertainment, inflatable games for children and families, artisans at work, and musical moments that accompany the evening stroll. Admission is free, and the entire city becomes an open-air gallery.

The White & Art Festival is a highlight of the "Margherita d'aMare" summer programme, a calendar of events promoted by the municipal administration that fills the salt-producing town with concerts, comedy shows, historical re-enactments, environmental award ceremonies, and the patronal feast of the Most Holy Saviour from June to September. This white night of art represents the moment when culture and entertainment merge in the public space, engaging all generations.
