A week dedicated to the Porto Recanati brodetto, the white fish soup with Conero saffron.
The Week of the Brodetto is the most anticipated gastronomic event in Porto Recanati, a seaside town in the Province of Macerata overlooking the Conero Riviera in the Marche region. For an entire week, at the beginning of June, participating restaurants offer the famous Porto Recanati-style brodetto as part of a promotional tasting menu, usually around 22 euros, accompanied by local wines.
The brodetto of Porto Recanati is considered the oldest recipe in the Marche region. Unlike the versions from San Benedetto del Tronto, Ancona, and Fano, it is prepared white, without tomato, and owes its unmistakable golden-yellow color to zafferanella, the wild saffron that grows on Monte Conero. Originally a humble dish for fishermen to use up unsold fish, it is now a symbol of identity protected by the Municipal Designation of Origin (De.Co.) obtained in 2009.
The Brodetto and Typical Products Academy, founded by local restaurateurs with the support of the Pro Loco and the Municipality, safeguards and codifies the authentic recipe. During the week, each restaurant interprets the brodetto in its own way, preserving the classic version or revisiting it with a contemporary touch. For visitors, it's the perfect opportunity to compare different interpretations of the same dish.
The week of tastings is usually complemented by the Brodetto Show in Piazza Brancondi, held at the end of June. This event features live show-cooking by the Academy's restaurateurs, tastings with Marche wines, entertainment for children, and guests from the culinary and entertainment worlds. It's when the brodetto transforms from a table specialty into a true public celebration.
Between tastings, the Week of the Brodetto is also an opportunity to discover Porto Recanati and the Conero Riviera: the seafront, the Swabian Castle, the beaches, and the villages of the Macerata hinterland. An event that combines seafood cuisine, local identity, and hospitality in one of the most beautiful stretches of the Marche Adriatic coast.
The XXVIII edition of the Week of the Brodetto is scheduled in Porto Recanati from June 6 to June 13, 2026, as confirmed by the official municipal tourism website. This year again, participating restaurants along the seafront and in the town center will offer the Porto Recanati-style brodetto in its traditional recipe, without tomato and with Conero saffron, as part of a promotional tasting menu (usually around 22 euros).
Throughout the week, from June 6 to June 13, 2026, participating restaurants in Porto Recanati will serve the Porto Recanati-style brodetto in a special promotional tasting menu.
The complete list of participating restaurants, menu details, and the program for the Brodetto Show in Piazza Brancondi will be published by the Municipality and the Brodetto Academy in the weeks preceding the event.
