Every year, towards the end of October, the historic centre of Osimo, an elegant town in the province of Ancona in the Marche region, is adorned with the colours and scents of autumn. The Autumn Festival, known by all for its delicious heart, Chestnut Day, is one of those events that are now part of the city's identity: a long weekend where chestnuts, the queen of the season, become the absolute protagonist in the streets and squares of the village.
Roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, and traditional flavours
The common thread of the festival is, of course, steaming roasted chestnuts, accompanied by the inevitable mulled wine that warms autumn evenings. But the food and wine experience goes much further: along the streets of the centre, you'll find stalls with sandwiches, French fries, chestnut cake, beer, and wine, while on weekend days, actual dining moves under the evocative arches of the San Francesco Cloister, where you can enjoy typical regional menus in an intimate and cozy atmosphere.
Accompanying the experience is the market of typical products, which brings the artisanal and agri-food excellences of the Marche to the square, ideal for a stroll with tastings and purchases.
Music, exhibitions, and fun for everyone
The festival is not just about gastronomy. Every evening, the program features live music and shows, with folk groups, bands, and tributes animating the squares until late at night. For nature enthusiasts, there is the mycological exhibition, dedicated to the mushrooms and wild herbs of the area, while the wheel of fortune adds a touch of games and prizes.
There is also plenty of space for children, with face painting, soap bubble shows, workshops, and entertainment that make the event suitable for the whole family.
A community festival
Chestnut Day is promoted by the Municipality of Osimo in collaboration with the ASSO association and the historic Workers' Mutual Aid Society, an entity deeply rooted in the city's fabric. The chestnuts traditionally come from the chestnut groves of the Umbrian-Marche Apennines, confirming the authentic link between the festival and the territory. Admission to the streets of the centre is free: you only pay for what you choose to eat or buy.

The 2026 edition of the Autumn Festival in Osimo (province of Ancona) is scheduled from Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the charming historic centre of the town. The stars of the event return: roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, typical Marche menus, and the market of typical products along the village streets.
As tradition dictates, the evenings will be enlivened by live music, while families and children can enjoy entertainment, face painting, and workshops. The mycological exhibition dedicated to mushrooms and wild herbs and the dining areas in the San Francesco Cloister will also be present.

- Saturday — food stalls from the afternoon, children's entertainment (face painting, soap bubbles), mycological exhibition, dining at the San Francesco Cloister, and an evening concert.
- Sunday — main day with a market of typical products, mycological and wild herb exhibition, workshops, lunch and dinner dining, and live music.
The wheel of fortune and the food and wine route with chestnut cake, sandwiches, French fries, beer, and wine also animate the festival.

How to get there
By car: Osimo is reachable from the A14 motorway, exit Ancona Sud, then follow signs for the centre. By train: Osimo-Castelfidardo station is connected to the Adriatic line; it is served by local buses from the city centre. The nearest airport is Marche Airport (Falconara Marittima), about half an hour's drive away.

Access to the event is free; food stalls and market are payable according to individual products.
Tip
Traffic and parking restrictions are expected in the historic centre during the festival: it's best to arrive a little early and park in the areas outside the town.
