We Run Rome is the classic New Year's Eve road race that, every December 31st, transforms the historic center of Rome into a racecourse winding through some of the world's most famous landmarks. Organized by Atleticom SSDaRL, the event draws thousands of enthusiasts, athletes, and families to the capital of Lazio who choose to end the year with sport and beauty rather than at the dinner table.

A route through the wonders of the Capital

The start is set at Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, in the area adjacent to the "Nando Martellini" Stadium. From here, the 10 km route winds past Piazza di Porta Capena, Piazza Bocca della Verità, Via del Teatro Marcello, Piazza Venezia, Via del Corso, the Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo, Via Vittorio Veneto, Piazza Barberini, and the Colosseum, before heading back to the finish line against the backdrop of the Circus Maximus. It is a true run through an open-air museum, an experience that combines athletic effort with the thrill of traversing the city's millennial history.

Three races for everyone

The event offers three distances designed to accommodate both competitive athletes and those simply looking to celebrate while on the move:

• 10 km competitive — a race valid for the national calendar, with FIDAL label, reserved for registered athletes with limited entries;
• 10 km non-competitive — the fun-run version of the same route, open to everyone aged 14 and up;
• 5 km non-competitive — the "Friendship Run," a shorter route towards the Imperial Fora and the Colosseum, suitable for families, children, and walkers.

A Roman New Year's tradition

Launched in 2012, We Run Rome has become one of the most anticipated year-end running events in Italy. The race is held under the patronage of Roma Capitale, the Lazio Region, CONI, and Sport e Salute. Every year, it fills the city streets with colorful race bibs and smiles, featuring costumed runners, sports groups, and tourists who combine a visit to the Eternal City with the pleasure of a collective run. Crossing Piazza Venezia or running under the Colosseum while Rome prepares for its New Year's celebrations is an unforgettable experience.

An event in the Caracalla village

The logistical heart of the event is the village set up in the area of the Terme di Caracalla Stadium, open from the morning of December 31st. Here, participants pick up their race packs, drop off their bags, warm up, and gather after the finish line. The combination of the archaeological setting of the Baths of Caracalla, the festive atmosphere, and the meticulous organization makes We Run Rome much more than just a race: it is the perfect way to bid farewell to the passing year in the most beautiful city in the world.
