About Longevity Run

The Longevity Run is a non-competitive 5-kilometer race that blends sport, health, and wellness in the heart of Rome, at the Baths of Caracalla. Promoted by doctors from the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital Foundation and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the event takes place during the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon weekend and offers all participants access to a Prevention Village with free medical screenings. It is an event open to families, athletes, and curious individuals, designed to show that living a long, healthy life is a daily choice.

Running for a longer life

The Longevity Run is much more than just a race: it is a day dedicated to sport, health, and prevention that brings the Baths of Caracalla in Rome, Lazio, to life every year. Conceived by doctors from the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital Foundation and researchers from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the event combines the excitement of a non-competitive run with a culture of prevention. Its message is simple: healthy longevity is built day by day through physical activity, regular check-ups, and a balanced lifestyle.

The non-competitive race

The sporting heart of the event is a non-competitive 5-kilometer run, open to everyone: seasoned runners, families, children, and casual enthusiasts. It takes place during the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon weekend, when the streets of Rome's historic center transform into a route passing by some of the world's most iconic monuments. It is not about the clock, but about the joy of moving together and taking care of oneself.

The Prevention Village

The true added value of the Longevity Run is the Prevention Village, set up at the Nando Martellini Stadium and open to everyone free of charge. Here, doctors and researchers from the Gemelli hospital offer the Longevity Check-up, a multi-stage assessment path that includes:

  • lifestyle assessment;
  • anthropometry, Body Mass Index (BMI), and waist-to-hip ratio;
  • blood pressure measurement;
  • cholesterol and blood glucose checks;
  • muscle mass and strength evaluation;
  • cognitive performance testing;
  • sleep quality analysis.

These screenings are complemented by specialized diagnostics such as ECG, VO2max testing, EcocolorDoppler, and ABI index, alongside the Longevity Activity guided exercise program.

A national project

The Rome leg is part of a broader itinerant project that visits numerous Italian cities in 2026, bringing the same combination of sport and cardiovascular prevention to every stop. Rome, with the backdrop of the Baths of Caracalla and its connection to the city's major half marathon, remains one of the most anticipated and well-attended events.

Why participate

Participating in the Longevity Run means combining the pleasure of running in one of Rome's most beautiful settings with the opportunity to receive a comprehensive health assessment for free. It is a valuable occasion for adults, young people, and families from the Municipality of Rome and the entire Lazio region, in the name of a concrete idea of well-being: living not just longer, but better.
