Organized by the Pro Loco of Rocchetta Tanaro in collaboration with the local administration, the initiative invites residents and visitors to explore on foot a landscape defined by vineyards, woods, and countryside, where rural traditions remain vibrant and visible.

The casot: stars of the route

The central theme of the event is the casot, the characteristic agricultural shelters that have dotted the hills of Rocchetta for centuries. While some are still in use, others have become silent witnesses to a changing landscape. Along the way, organizers share curiosities, charming anecdotes, and historical insights about the sites, highlighting the importance of these small structures in local agricultural history and the daily lives of the farmers of the Tanaro valley.

The route

The walk follows a loop of approximately 6.5 kilometers through vineyards, woods, and countryside, starting from the town center at Piazza Italia, which overlooks the castle of the Incisa della Rocchetta marquises, the Town Hall, and the church of San Nicolao e Stefano. It is an accessible route suitable for families; comfortable trekking shoes are recommended, and please note that the event may be cancelled in case of bad weather.

The grand finale of the day is the convivial dinner at the Fattoria Roceta, the ancient farmhouse of the Incisa della Rocchetta castle, now a socio-cultural landmark of the town. In the Fattoria's hall, the Pro Loco serves traditional Piedmontese dishes paired with local wines, particularly the labels of the Asti Monferrato that have made this corner of Piedmont famous. It is the perfect moment to gather around the table after the walk and enjoy the company of locals and visitors alike.

An event that celebrates the territory

With the participation of over two hundred people, Walking Among the Casot of Rocchetta Tanaro is a well-established event that successfully combines gentle exercise, local culture, and gastronomy. It is part of a summer calendar of initiatives through which the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Rocchetta Tanaro aim to promote the town's attractions and showcase an authentic Monferrato, far from the major tourist flows, rich in agricultural history, hilly landscapes, and local flavors.
