Six days of culture, rights, and entertainment on Rome's Gay Street, in the shadow of the Colosseum
Walk with Pride debuts in 2026 as the capital's newest LGBTQIA+ event, choosing an exceptional stage for its first edition: Rome's Gay Street, the stretch of Via di San Giovanni in Laterano that connects the Celio district to the Colosseum. From June 16 to 21, 2026, for six consecutive days, the street comes alive every evening from 5 PM to 1 AM, turning into a vast open-air space dedicated to culture, representation, and inclusion, just steps from the Flavian Amphitheatre, in the Municipality of Rome and the heart of the Lazio region.
The festival is promoted and organized by a group of entrepreneurs active in the capital's cultural and social fabric, under the artistic direction of Ezio Cristo. The core idea is to use the popular language of events, concerts, and shows to discuss rights, without separating fun from political and civil discourse. The godmother of this first edition is Vladimir Luxuria, who will cut the inaugural ribbon on June 16 to kick off the program. The event distinguishes itself from the Roma Pride and other city gatherings by proposing a format spread across an entire week.
Each evening alternates between DJ sets, meetings, presentations, theatre, and live music:
Political talks, singer-songwriter music, pop-rock, theatrical shows, drag contests, and film screenings coexist in a single multidisciplinary calendar. Admission is free, and the location—facing the Colosseum and a stone's throw from the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano—makes Walk with Pride easily accessible for both Romans and tourists. The event reaffirms Rome's vocation as a city capable of uniting historical memory with contemporary battles for civil rights.
The first edition of Walk with Pride enlivened Rome's Gay Street from June 16 to 21, 2026, with a rich and multidisciplinary calendar that alternated DJ sets, political talks, book presentations, theatrical shows, drag competitions, and live concerts every evening.
Among the most anticipated moments were the ribbon-cutting on June 16 with godmother Vladimir Luxuria, the political talk on June 17 with Francesca Pascale, the "Call Me Drag" competition on June 18, and the concert by Francesco Sarcina and Le Vibrazioni on June 19. The closing on June 21 combined the screening of the film "A year in London," a talk dedicated to the trans community, and the final DJ set by Dark Ore.
