Jazz, swing, and live music in the park of Villa Celimontana
Village Celimontana is one of the most beloved musical events of the Estate Romana (Roman Summer). Every year, for nearly four months, the park of Villa Celimontana transforms into a vibrant live music village, with an outdoor stage active almost every night. The festival takes place in the heart of Rome, in the Lazio region, on the picturesque Caelian Hill, just a stone's throw from the Colosseum.
The heart of the Village is jazz in all its forms: from big band swing to gypsy-inspired manouche, from blues to early rock'n'roll, and classic New Orleans jazz. The lineup features over one hundred free-entry events, with concerts kicking off every evening around 10:00 PM. The stage hosts a rotating selection of national and international artists, with a program that changes weekly.
Village Celimontana is more than just concerts. The festival offers a series of recurring events designed for all audiences:
Every summer, the Village hosts thematic mini-festivals that enrich the program, from the Roman Classic Jazz Festival, dedicated to the tradition of classic jazz, to the Gipsy Mini Festival, a tribute to manouche music and Django Reinhardt. These are moments where great masters and young talents share the same stage, featuring swing bands, gypsy quartets, and dance orchestras.
The setting of Villa Celimontana, with its tree-lined avenues, historic gardens, and intimate atmosphere far from city traffic, makes the festival an oasis of coolness and music during hot summer evenings. Free admission, a dining area, and the chance to enjoy high-quality music just steps from major ancient monuments make Village Celimontana an unmissable event for both Romans and tourists.
From mid-May to early September 2026, Villa Celimontana returns as the beating heart of Roman summer jazz. The lineup alternates nightly concerts of swing, classic jazz, manouche, and rock'n'roll, with recurring events such as Swing Swing Swing (Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Balboa lessons on Tuesdays), Greg ogni Luneday with Claudio "Greg" Gregori on Mondays, and Giochiamo con la musica for children with the Mississippi Music School.
The 2026 summer season also features two highly anticipated special sections: the Roman Classic Jazz Festival, dedicated to the tradition of classic jazz, and the Gipsy Mini Festival, a tribute to Django Reinhardt and manouche music.
Daily festival with over one hundred free-entry concerts, from May 15 to September 5, 2026, with shows starting around 10:00 PM.
The full program, which changes weekly, is published on the official website villagecelimontana.it.
