A Night at the Roman Forum is the extraordinary evening opening that invites you to discover one of the city's most iconic landmarks, hosted by the Colosseum Archaeological Park. Every Friday evening, starting June 19, 2026, the Roman Forum remains open beyond its usual hours, allowing visitors to explore in a quiet, intimate atmosphere as the sunset and subsequent darkness cast new shadows across the columns, arches, and basilicas. It is a unique opportunity to experience the heart of ancient Rome at a slower, more tranquil pace than during the day.

The route along the Via Sacra

The itinerary follows the Via Sacra, the ancient road that crossed the Forum, connecting the main monuments of Rome's public and religious life. The evening route touches upon some of the most evocative sites in the archaeological area:

• The House of the Vestals, the residence of the priestesses who guarded the city's sacred fire;
• The Temple of Vesta, the circular sanctuary where the flame symbolizing the continuity of Rome burned perpetually;
• The Temple of Antoninus and Faustina, now incorporated into the church of San Lorenzo in Miranda, a testament to the layering of Imperial and Christian history.

Walking among these remains at dusk allows you to read centuries of history in filigree, blending archaeology, memory, and the urban landscape.

Hours and information

Tours take place every Friday from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM, with the last entry at 8:30 PM. Reservations are mandatory, and named tickets are released in the days leading up to the event via the official Colosseum Archaeological Park website.
