The historic party for Rome's LGBTQ+ community, from Qube to the Baths of Caracalla
Muccassassina is much more than just a night out at a club: it is an institution of nightlife and the LGBTQ+ community in Rome, Lazio. Organized by the Mario Mieli Homosexual Culture Circle, the party was founded in the early nineties as a way to self-finance the Circle and create a free space to gather, dance, and assert rights. Its ironic and provocative name comes from the nights held at the Mattatoio in Testaccio during the nineties, and for over thirty years, it has been synonymous with freedom and inclusion in the Capital.
For most of the year, Muccassassina brings every Friday night to life at the Qube Disco, a historic venue on Via di Portonaccio, with its famous three-level format:
The creative direction is led by Diego Longobardi, while choreography and show numbers mark the nights with drag queens, performers, and dancers. The themed nights, from the grand autumn opening to Halloween, are highly anticipated events across the city.
When the warm season arrives, Muccassassina leaves the indoor clubs and moves outdoors among the monumental Baths of Caracalla, inside AREA, the "inclusion village" promoted by the Mario Mieli Circle with the support of the City of Rome. Every Friday in summer, under the illuminated remains of the ancient thermal complex, one of the most evocative nights of the Roman summer takes place, featuring DJ sets, live shows, drag performances, and a vast, colorful crowd.
AREA is more than just Muccassassina: the village offers queer cinema, comedy, stand-up, wellness, dance, live music, and a wide food area, in a program that weaves culture, body, and thought in the shadow of one of Rome's iconic monuments.
Behind the lights and music lies the concrete commitment of the Mario Mieli Circle: the proceeds from Muccassassina support free services offered to the city, from prevention and reception to psychological support and rights activism. Dancing at Muccassassina means supporting an organization that has been at the forefront of defending the LGBTQ+ community in the Capital and throughout Lazio for decades.
In 2026, Muccassassina once again hosts its summer season outdoors, among the evocative Baths of Caracalla, inside AREA, the inclusion village of the Mario Mieli Homosexual Culture Circle. The events take place on Fridays - including July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and August 7, 14, 2026 - from evening until late at night.
Each evening alternates DJ sets, house, electronic, and pop music, live shows, and performances by drag queens and dancers, in a free and colorful atmosphere under the illuminated remains of the ancient Roman thermal complex. Around the dance floor, the AREA village offers queer cinema, comedy, wellness, and a large food area.
Admission to summer events is free. In autumn, the party returns indoors, every Friday, at the Qube Disco.
