The world's largest running event returns to the Civitavecchia seafront
Vivicittà is the historic running event conceived and organized by UISP (Italian Union of Sport for All). Born in the mid-eighties, it has become a symbolic appointment for grassroots sport in Italy. Its formula is unique: the same race takes place simultaneously in dozens of Italian cities and several international locations, with a handicap ranking that compares times achieved on different courses. In Civitavecchia, in the Province of Rome, the stage is organized by the UISP Territorial Committee and has become a classic of the spring running calendar in Lazio.
The day offers two formats designed to welcome everyone, from competitive athletes to families:
There are also side activities dedicated to the little ones, with motor games and entertainment that make Vivicittà a true community celebration rather than just a race.
The Civitavecchia track starts and finishes in Piazza della Vita, in the Marina area, and winds along the seafront of the port city, touching the port area and its most recognizable landmarks, such as the famous Forte Michelangelo. Running or walking along the promenade, with the silhouette of the port in the background, is the best way to reclaim urban spaces—one of the messages that Vivicittà has always promoted alongside themes of peace, the environment, and inclusion.
Participating in Vivicittà means becoming part of a great collective embrace that, on the same day and at the same time, unites thousands of people across Italy. The start is given simultaneously in all cities, transforming a local race into an event with national and international reach. In Civitavecchia, this spirit translates into a spring Sunday dedicated to sport for all, solidarity, and outdoor life on the Lazio coast.
The forty-second edition was held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, with the start at 9:30 AM from Piazza della Vita, in the Marina area of Civitavecchia. As per tradition, the start was given simultaneously with other Italian cities participating in Vivicittà, as part of the national edition titled "Triple Jump: include, regenerate, innovate".
The course, updated on the eve of the race, unfolded along the seafront and the port area, passing near the Forte Michelangelo.
Start and finish at Piazza della Vita (Marina of Civitavecchia).
Civitavecchia is easily accessible by train (station on the Rome-Pisa line, with frequent connections from Rome Termini and Rome Ostiense) and by car via the A12 Rome-Civitavecchia motorway. The starting area, Piazza della Vita, is located in the Marina area, just a few steps from the port.
Registration fee for the competitive race: 10 euros. For the competitive race, it is necessary to send a copy of your athlete card and a valid competitive medical certificate to [email protected]. For the recreational fun run, you can register directly at the UISP office at Via Puglie 12, from Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 12:30.
