The premier gardening and flower market at the Archaeological Park of the Terme di Traiano
Terme in Fiore is one of the most highly regarded gardening and floriculture market exhibitions in the Lazio region. The event takes place in Civitavecchia, a port city in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, within the evocative Archaeological Park of the Terme di Traiano. Each edition draws gardening enthusiasts, collectors, and families from across the country. The event has firmly established itself on the circuit of major Italian exhibitions dedicated to rare and unusual plants, thanks to a rigorous selection of exhibitors and a format that blends botany, craftsmanship, culture, and history.
The location is one of the event's greatest strengths. The so-called Terme Taurine, or Baths of Trajan, are an imposing Roman thermal complex built during the Republican era and expanded under Hadrian, nestled in the greenery on a hill just a few kilometers from the center of Civitavecchia. Strolling among the nursery stalls and blooms against the backdrop of ancient Roman masonry creates a rare atmosphere where nature and archaeological heritage engage in a natural dialogue. The park also features gardens and a rich variety of plants, making the visit visually stunning.
The heart of Terme in Fiore is the market exhibition: dozens of exhibitors from all over Italy present botanical rarities, unique collections, unusual plants, and high-quality artisanal creations. Alongside the nurserymen, you will find refined artisans and selected agricultural businesses, offering everything from ornamental plants to garden tools and accessories. Visitors can purchase directly from the producers, receive expert advice on caring for specific species, and discover varieties rarely found in standard commercial outlets.
The event is more than just a plant market: the program includes children's workshops, conferences, and meetings with industry experts, designed to introduce both adults and children to the world of greenery. To complete the experience, there is a gourmet food area and a special focus on hospitality: the event is pet-friendly (dogs on leashes are welcome), and the exhibition areas are accessible to people with disabilities.
A distinctive feature of Terme in Fiore is its twice-yearly schedule: a spring edition in late March and an autumn edition in mid-September. In 2026, the event held its spring edition on March 28-29 and returns for the autumn edition on September 12-13, confirming a well-established format that supports gardening enthusiasts through the two key seasons for greenery.
Organized with the involvement of the Pro Loco of Civitavecchia and the support of the Municipality of Civitavecchia and Lazio Region institutions, Terme in Fiore has become a key opportunity for the tourism and cultural promotion of the area, successfully combining a passion for plants with the rediscovery of a high-value archaeological site. For those visiting the coast north of Rome, it represents a perfect weekend idea dedicated to nature, beauty, and history.
Following the spring event in late March, Terme in Fiore returns to Civitavecchia for its 18th edition, scheduled for Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, 2026, in the setting of the Archaeological Park of the Terme di Traiano. The event confirms the formula that has ensured its success: a selection of 60 exhibitors from across the country, including leaders in floriculture, artisans, and high-quality agricultural businesses, showcasing unusual and collector plants.
The autumn edition is also designed as a complete weekend experience, with workshops, in-depth sessions, and a gourmet food area, set within an archaeological and landscape context that makes the visit an experience between nature and history in the heart of the Lazio region.
